How much are people paying for the NEW 4Runner?

I like you, am in the Gulf States Toyota distribution region. I made up my mind long ago that I would purchase out of state as KDSS didn't seem readily available here and Gulf States tends to take greater liberties in concern with the fees that they pass along and the port-installed options they place on the vehicles to drive the price up. Below is a pic of my vehicles window sticker with all options and fees (some of which are not seen but are built into the MSRP, like advertising and marketing fees). My selling price for the vehicle was $38,336.78. Paid the 6.25% TX sales tax, as well as $169.27 IL doc fee and $10.00 for 30-day drive out tags so I can title and register the vehicle back in TX.

If those fees are in addition to the MSRP amount then that is not kosher and you shouldn't pay them and would not want to get into dealings with that dealer. Best of luck in your search.

Was that the trail or trail premium?

I'm in Dallas as well. Can I ask where you bought yours? I'm hoping by Christmas to buy a 4Runner. Did you have a trade in and Did you have to pay the 6.25% on the purchase price since it was out of state? Or on the difference like you do buying in Texas?

I did not have a trade-in on this purchase so can't answer as to how the difference would have been taxed in that event. Since I financed through the dealer, I paid the TX tax at final signing. If you were to pay cash only for the vehicle you would pay the tax back in the state of vehicle's registration.

The dealership was Autonation Toyota of Libertyville, IL. It was a factory allocation so the whole process of ordering, production and delivery of vehicle to dealer was about 8-1/2 weeks.

Cool, thanks!

Got a deal working now on a 2016 Limited Magnetic Gray, Redwood Interior 4x4 for 41540. Trying to get them down to 40,500 and throwing in remote start.

Final Offer 41,000 with the remote start installed for free, and a rear cargo cover thrown in as well. I think I got a good deal.

Did you get it a this price ?
Please let me know

I was able to get my magnetic gray limited for 2016 $40k flat...they were trying to move inventory and don't sell a whole lot of runners (let alone limiteds) around here.

2016 SR5 Metallic Grey - Cloth interior, carpet flooring, no heated seats (Not premium)
Paid $34,000 ($500 below invoice) + $299 Dealer fee = $34,299 (before taxes & tags). I think I got a good deal.

Just put a deposit down on a 2016 Trail non-premium with KDSS at a dealer in Georgia. Total came $39,238 out the door taxes and all but i had to work several dealers to get there. Now i just have to wait for it to get here.

Just picked up my trail white not premium (very hard to find) for $300 over invoice from Frank Toyota in San Diego. Waited 3wks for the car. Ask for Robert Martin and he will do $300 over invoice on all 4runners. Pro's are at sticker price.

Robert was able to remove floor mats and cargo cover at port, so I saved another $250 not getting useless options.

I think this is a good price for OC/Los Angeles area. People around here are willing to pay $5k over sticker for TRD PRO. I even checked with AZ dealers. They add minimum $500 dealer fee on top of their discounted price. They don't tell you that up front. For those of you from SoCal thinking about getting a car from out of state be sure to ask how much extra dealer fee on top. Don't drive 4-8 hrs and find out you can get it for the same OTD price back home. This happened to my friend.

I picked up my TRD Pro yesterday for Sticker/ MSRP. Living in the Bay Area it was the best I could find without a long drive.

No extra factory options other than roof cross bars.

Picked up a 2016 Trail Premium for $2100 off the MSRP, plus had them add the all weather mats/cargo area, and the factory cross bars. On top of that, I had a firm amount in my head for two trades I had, and got both amounts. Pretty satisfied with the deal.

Yes I got my Limited 4x4 for $41K even. Drove it home today and man is it nice. It sits higher than my 4th gen, my son will love the hand me down 4th gen. The Limited is a nice and I got everything I wanted at a price i thought was fair. I was not interested in the 4x4 but the color combo I wanted only came in 4x4 in the gulf states region.

Working at a dealership in sales (for Toyota) I can tell you that the best deal you'll get is closer to month end (for the manufacturer) which may be the 1st or 2nd. 4runners sell really will and we averaged 1500-2500 gross profit on the front end. Now we don't negotiate, we offer our best price, take it or leave it. As far as a trade-in, you want to know what your ACTUAL CASH VALUE is, NOT TRADE ALLOWANCE. TA depends on the car you're buying, ACV is what is subtracted before sales taxes are applied. If you want a great "deal" buy a 150 day old Camry or Avalon. At the end of the day, tell them where you need to be to make a car deal. Trust me it's a lot easier for them and you. And for god's sake, don't expect the moon for your trade-in!

A couple of weeks ago I purchased a 2016 Limited, Nautical Blue Metallic, Redwood interior, 3rd row seat, 4WD, running boards, front window tint, door edge guard, and carpet floor mats. MSRP was $47,380 and I negotiated down to $44,780 before ttl.

I had done my research. I looked at all the websites that suggest the true market price. And for several months I have been searching on autotrader and dreaming of the 4Runner I wanted.

By the time I was ready to make the purchase, I searched online for another 4runner with the exact same options. I found one 80 miles further away . I contacted their internet sales department and negotiated by email to pay the invoice price. Invoice was $43,999. The gulf states region really kills us in fees. I got them to email me a copy of the invoice. This was good leverage for me because that 4runner had been on the lot for almost 60 days.

Then I went in to the dealer that is close to where I live and negotiated with them. They wanted me to pay MSRP and they said there are never any discounts on 4Runners. Then offered to subtract $400 from MSRP because they added the window tint and door edge guard which I did not ask for. They even tried to tell me someone else was ready to buy it if I didn't. I told them MSRP is not a good deal and I told them about the same 4runner 80 miles away. I was willing to drive over there to save a couple thousand dollars. They ended up getting close to invoice, which was good enough for me. They gave me more than I was expecting for my trade in so I counted it as a win.

Congrats ! This is great news. Can you tell me MSRP and installed options ?
I will try to figure out the best offer price for my limited .
Thanks again and enjoy :)

I paid $40,000 for my 15 Limited that stickered for $45,500. It took a lot of me saying no to their (absolute bottom price) and they let me walk out the door. An hour after I got home they called me and said ok to this deal. By the way never do the back and forth thing with the salesman. Insist on having the manager there with you. Saves a lot of time. All the internet sales people bull was worthless. 4 dealers and all was a waist of time. Every one said come in and stopped calling me. None would commit to anything. Finally I went to one of those dealers and just let the outside salesman walk me in the door and get his sales manager to join us. By the way the dealer by my house wanted 3k more after all the haggling.
