Just bought my first ever 4Runner, 2021 ORP through CostCo auto in Indiana. Last new 4Runner of any trim on the lot. Very limited stock at all dealers around central Indiana. They honored not only the CostCo price but also took off the $500 Toyota’s sales promotion.

Bottom line $1700 under invoice. Moonroof, mats, no KDSS $40,175 out the door. If you do the short CostCo survey after purchase you also get a coupon for half off an accessory up to $200 value. TRD Pro skid plate incoming ;-). Very happy new owner here.

Was going to try Costco in Indiana too. Was invoice $40,127 ? and then you got 1700 under that? Thanks nice deal

Invoice was $41,875 which included stuff like destination charge, fees, all weather mats, cargo cover, cargo net and maybe the Predator steps but I might have been added those at the end. Paid $40,175. Was very very happy with that, especially given the current supply and demand conditions. The other benefit is the process, no games or pressure.

Any tips for locating a specific build other than just going to each dealer website? I went to a local dealer with a TRD Pro build--they took my info, gave me a price and a very reasonable offer on my 06 Limited. 4 weeks later and I have not heard anything from them--no "order confirmation" or anything. Meanwhile, I have multiple other dealers who must have gotten my info from the main Toyota site emailing me and trying to get me to order one through them. Any experience to share with what the process should be like?

I ordered 21 ORP (southeast region) so this may not be 100 percent applicable. In any case- I signed a buyers order, put down a deposit. I confirmed that order was placed about 7-10 days later, confirmed again expected delivery. I think my dealership was able to modify truck already being built.
Try checking your Toyota Region website (Ohio valley) for more options.

Yup, once the 2022 refresh is announced, these current 5th gens will start plummeting in price. Buyers will need to decide if the refresh is worth it vs the lower price of the current gen.

You would be surprised what these sell for used. I got what (i think) was a good deal pre covid 37.8 on a 20 orp, sticker just under 44. At that time 18's and 19's / couple had 30k miles! were fetching 36-39..I got a new one for less

Prices have gone insane, I paid 42k for a customer ordered 2016 Trail loaded with KDSS, the sportech interior and the TRD Wheels that I took delivery of in January 2017 and TRDs were going for 44k. Now TRDs are bouncing off of 55k for the same technology other than the CarPlay stereo. I added suspension, larger tires, RTT and still had 10k in my pocket compared to what the prices are now. Do yourself a favor, buy a used GX470 or wait for the Bronco... don’t pay a premium for 11 year old technology.

PS, I love my 4Runner and bought it for the resale value and the reliability, I have “0” interest in selling it but... the ZR2, Bronco and Gladiator hadn’t hit the markets at that time that I purchased mine... if you’re in the market you have some incredible options for sub 45k.

Do you really think their will be a refresh in two years with gas at $5 a gallon? It may not exist much longer. Maybe you can put big tires on a Prius and take it down some dirt roads.

The entire point of a redesign would be increased fuel economy, so uh... yeah. It's coming.

Toyota works on releases years in advance. TNGA-F has been planned for even longer. The rumor is many redesigns have been delayed while Toyota works on hybrid options for the trucks. All of the next gen trucks will have a hybrid at some point in their life. Outside of pandemic type issues, the refresh will not be delayed.

If Biden reverses this then even a 4Runner hybrid will have trouble keeping up with this in a few years. Add further regulations to the oil industry and that means much higher gas prices and hybrid technology for the 4Runner would significantly increase it's cost as well and may even have a gas guzzler tax added to it. A hybrid can only do so much for a very heavy body on frame 4x4. We shall see, but Biden's message regarding fossil fuels seems very aggressive. I am sure Ford is probably a little bit scared regarding the new Bronco.

Currently negotiating with a dealer, after having a really difficult time finding a white ORP w/ KDSS anywhere on the East Coast. Costco pricing is, so far, the only way any dealership has been willing to go below 5% MSRP - at least over the phone.

Question for anyone with experience: what luck, or prices, have anyone negotiated for swapping out with TRD Pro wheels/tires - or is there a standard 'package' to request? My dealer's 'swap' price was the same as buying them outright, no credit or compensation for the current wheel/tire combo...

P.S. - In the much more taxed and regulated economy of British Columbia (Canada) the average gas price over the last 10 years has been around $5.50 per Gallon if you convert from L/KM and I have never seen a shortage of trucks or gas guzzlers around Vancouver.......

Traded 2017 SR5 base 4wd with nav and unused 3rd row.
MSRP was 39,748. The discount price was $36005. Trade in with 33,000 miles was $30,160
Fees and tax were approx $860
Gained a nicer color, Carplay, Safety Sense, LED lights, factory running boards, auto dimming mirror and a bug guard (!!)
Lost unused 3rd row and unused Nav.
Went from 2017 to 2021 for approx $6800

Many conservatives thought Obama was going to take everyone's guns. That didn't happen over the course of his two terms. Gun rules were actually relaxed.

Biden isn't going to come in an enact some extreme agenda squashing the O&G industry. However, we can't keep going the direction of the current administration with it being a free for all and letting the O&G run free and weigh in heavily of the regulations. We need to set goals to improve efficiency and reduce pollution, even if those goals might seem extreme initially. By having lofty goals, you push innovation. Goals can and are adjusted.

The new 4runner will most certainly be more fuel efficient. Heck, just a change to a 7 to 8 speed auto and direct injection alone would increase efficiency 20% and make it more competitive mpg wise. It would also make the 4runner a good bit quicker. Toyota is thinking long and hard about engines and transmissions because they want to maintain bulletproof reliability and simplicity. Turbos and hybrid aren't the way to go for a vehicle being used 50+ miles in on a tight trail.

Remember that “CAFE” stands for Corporate AVERAGE Fuel Economy. Every single vehicle doesn’t need to meet the standard. The whole car/truck fleet average does.
