how much boost can a stock 5vz handle?

I was wondering how much boost can a stock 5vz handle? I have headers full exhaust and water meth injection to keep the detonation down. Im running this pulley and im getting 9psi of boost at 4000+ evaluation. It was slipping bad going from 7 psi to 9 psi im not sure on the size of the pulley. Now that I put these grooves on the pulley I have zero slipping. Now that I think I can take care of the slipping problem I want to have another pulley machined down and add even more grooves.

I don't think anyone knows a end power figure before the engine gives up. Someone needs to just get a spare and keep pushing and pushing until it throws a rod.

I would be careful with those grooves, they may be bitting more into the belt. It may not be slipping anymore because it could be cutting into the belt. I don't know for sure but just a thought...

I will definitely push this engine to max when I have the money to rebuild it stronger rods, crank, pistons etc. I already have another truck just incase its a 5.7 tundra so I won't be down in transportation. And I have been keeping a eye on the belt its completely ok its not eating it I also carry a spare belt just incase.

That is a "Pulley Boys" 2.1 or 2.2 pulley.

I have the 2.1 also but was having a problem with it slipping so I put the stock 2.37" back on. I may have to try this and see if I can get it to stop slipping.

It's really all in how much money you have. Really the possibility I end less. You will probably start running into other weaknesses like transmission, axles.

Look for "Texas Ace" on YT...he's got a lot experience with pushing the SC.

Keep an eye on the belt with those saw cuts in the pulley. Those sharp edges are sure to chew up a belt or two before getting smoothed over from wear.

I think you would find the limits of the supercharger before the engine.
Double check max speed for the rotors in the charger...

Once you get around 12 psi and up the supercharger becomes way less efficient. The 5vz can handle tons of power but the supercharger won't get you up that high, you'd need to turbo if that's what you're looking for. There's a guy on customtacos named kickergt that has a tad over 400hp on his 4wd turbo'd tacoma. He said the 5vz limit is around 450hp with stock internals, if you rebuilt the motor with all forged internals I'm sure you could push it much higher but then you're getting into tons of cash.

I know this guy that has a 1.1 pulley custom grooved belt so it cannot slip at all. His motor is fully built forged everything custom cams over sized valves. He said he's running 16 psi making 525hp at the crank and 480hp at the wheels and it revs to 10000. Next time I see him I will take pics and make a new thread.

I'd love to see it, and the dyno. You can expect around 10hp per psi depending on elevation, so at 16 psi that's an extra 160hp. Add that to a stroked 3.4 that's maybe at 200-220ish? Looking at 380hp then add the urd 7th and some meth injection, maybe around 400hp but 480hp seems way to much with that blower, only way to get those numbers is with a big turbo set up. Can't wait to see it though

I didn't talk to him to much but he said its all custom everything so it might even be ported who knows but he spent around 8 grand on the motor also its bored .040 over. Do you know how big .040 will make the motor? Also you can stroke the 5vz? I've looked a lot never herd or seen a stroker kit.

I think all you can really get out of the 5vz is around 3.6L, don't know if it's worth the money though, rather just rebuild with forged internals and throw a big turbo on it.

Yeah I think it would only be worth it if it could go at least 4.0 My plan later on when I can afford it is fully forged with a big turbo.
