I just put in a new head gasket and new shocks on my 2001, I spent $1,400 which is more then what you paid for your car. It started to leak about a year ago and I figured I should have it done.My '97 the day I bought it for $1,200! The head gasket was smoking, put Barr's through it and drove it for a year before I had to put a gasket on it.
Best vehicle value I've ever gotten by far.
I figure I could sell it for twice that after driving it for two years.

99 limited, bought last October for $ 3k, after new rear axle seals/bearings/abs & timing belt, been running like a champ for 12,000 miles, hoping for at least 10x as many more

Just brought this one home tonight. 2000 SR5 Sport, 195k. Will need timing belt and exhaust (not sure if cats need to be done, yet) New tires and radiator done recently.

Recent shocks/springs (it's about 1" taller than it should be so I'm guessing 99 sport springs)
Recent lower control arms/ball joints
Recent timing belt/water pump
Virtually rust free. Must be from the west coast.
Interior isn't perfect but cleaner than any of the other ones I looked at in that price range
Body is a little rough but I think with some polish and elbow grease it'll look great
Makes a funny noise from the front end when reversing with the wheel turned, I think that might be what the PO was chasing when he replaced all those other front end parts
I'm still waiting for something to blow up or catastrophically fail to explain that price

Just bought this '98 3.4L 2WD LTD for $3300. New timing belt, radiator, valve cover gaskets, and oil. No rust, 211k. Prices are pushing up around here (ATL) but I'm loving this thing. Needs some minor cosmetic stuff and brakes but that's it.

I bought my 97 Limited five years ago for $4000. 141,000 on the odometer and it was in good shape. It had a bad bearing and there was an issue with the rear diff- otherwise, it was just about perfect. I bought it, had the diff and bearing taken care of, then put a few hundred bucks in parts into it between new brakes, plugs, wires, filters, new fluids, sensors etc, and couldn't have been happier. I've had offers even in the last month for $6,000+. Pic is about two weeks after I bought it.

The rear is sagging. The suspension is toast (stock). I really experienced it last night when I towed my empty 6x12 trailer. haha.
Oh well, guess I just have to upgrade. Bummer

$5k for my 1998 Base 2wd 4cyl 5spd manual with 78k miles.
recently had clutch replaced, new pads, and tires. a little higher than what i wanted to pay, especially for a 2wd, but felt it was worth it for a low mileage and original owner truck. except for a few beauty marks on the bumpers its super clean all around, paint and interior. i've taken it to a dealership, a Toyota mechanic and Firestone (alignment post install of new OEM LBJs) and all 3 have told me it doesn't need a thing
