How much do you think I could sell my T4R for?

I'm actually looking to sell my 4Runner right now as well. I would not get too excited about an Audi, dad had one before, too much to maintain. Thats why their resale value is so low actually.
If you want a sporty car, then look at a Lexus, same reliability of a Toyota with the luxury or an Acura.
Right now due to gas prices, it's hard to sell a 4Runner for its full value. Try a private party sale, dealers are just lowballing me like crazy when I go for an appraisal.

I had a 2007 G35S before my 4Runner and ADORED it and miss it a lot but I definitely can't afford another one of those.

If I were interested in it I would be looking for private party price minus mileage deduction if any, minus timing belt cost and minus 600 for having the wheels painted black. You may want to replace the wheel cap now to make it look its best. with gas prices creeping up I think it will start hurting 4runner values.

Dude, what are you talking about? I GAVE YOU A BUNCH OF CAR-VALUE SITES TO CHECK! DO SOME RESEARCH! The guy above is right in regards to the maintenence costs (the timing belt fix, the mileage, the wheels you painted, etc) so dont expect to get a highball price.

1) go to the KBB, Edmunds, etc etc sites,...get a median price...

2) determine what you NEED for the truck vs. what price it can truely FETCH.

3) Have some inner-dialogue and dertermine if this notion of yours to sell the 4Runner will or will not be cost-effective for your needs.

I think though, after hearing what all of you have to say about Audis and how I won't be able to get a car as reliable as the 4Runner in addition to the fact that over the next 3-5 years we may be moving to the mountains (where it snows hardcore) and we'll probably get a small boat of some kind so it would be nice to have a tow vehicle that I'm probably just going to stick it out because I really do love the 4Runner, I just miss having a sporty manual transmission car.

I hear you on the "moving to the mountains"! I moved to the berkshires a year ago and with this winter in my rear-view, im glad as hell i got TWO trusty 4Runners!

Just do a little homework, throw the Runner up on craigslist (free and u aint bound to any sale), see if anything happens you can feel comfortable with.

Just remember, if you have even the SLIGHTEST HINT of "i dunno if i should do this", then DONT!!!!!! Regret is a b*tch to live with.

I think you're right about the doubt thing, I think the problem is that I had a bit of that when I sold my G35 and got the T4R, but I really wanted 4-wheel drive, more room, and at the time, an automatic. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE my 4Runner, I think maybe in the next few years I could just by a little Miata or something for 3 or 4 grand, that combined with my 4Runner and I'd be completely happy!

I just sold my '04 Audi S4 Avant because the gas mileage was killing me (16-17 mpg) and u have to buy premium. Plus the cost to fix Audi's is friggin out of this world. Not to mention the 4.2 v8 in my S4 was such a tight fit u had to REMOVE THE ENGINE to do most of rhe work. I went back to a Yota as I know there reliable and much bigger than my Audi. That being said, I miss the S4 like crazy! Bit not enough to regret letting her go. That was the only car I've ever driven that actually scares me at how fast I was going...

Stick with the T4R or maybe just sell it and get another. I picked up my '05 V8 SR5 with 91k on it for $17300 just a few weeks ago. Already tinted her up, and just did put a euro perf wheelskin on the steering wheel. Lift, tires, spacers, stereo next!!!

Hey Krup, i hope whomever you bought that SR5 V8 off of had the timing belt done! Thats a repair-NIGHTMARE if something goes wrong under the hood! Awesome upgrades you listed though.

Im getting tint done tomorrow (mostly because i FAILED INSPECTION cuz whomever had the rig b4 me had the front done too dark! I had to peel it off to get my sticker! Dealer will reimburse me to have them professionally cleaned and legal tint applied.)

Yup, timing belt and water pump were replaced by dealer I bought it from so I'm good there! That actually helped me pick this particular runner, very well maintained.

I really love that car, and also how it looks on paper, AWD, twin turbo, 4 doors, etc. However the reality is that if the turbos haven't been replaced, get ready to do so. Plus they just are not that reliable. Then you have to try and find one that hasn't been beat to hell. You might as well just do your timing belt and keep the 4runner, it would cost you less.

Also it seems that VW's and Audis always seem to have electrical gremlins. I always tell people that VW's and Audis are great cars as long as they have a full warranty.

In the 10K range, if you want turbo and AWD, I would be looking into a WRX. You would be better off this that vs the Audi.

Klennop is right. Coming from a German car enthusiast I really like the B5 S4s, but it's an expensive proposition when those turbos fail. Many S4s of that vintage probably won't have the original turbos anyway, but if they haven't been replaced, you're looking at $5K minimum for parts and labor. Reason being, the entire engine has to be removed to service the turbos. The K03s in the 2001.5 S4s were more reliable since they were beefed up with larger oil inlets, but they are still prone to mechanical issues if not treated properly and religiously maintained.

Bottom line, know what you're getting into before you buy because the B5 S4 can be a money pit. But good luck on whatever you decide.

IMHO, you would be better of buying a subaru legacy. Great gas mileage and legendary AWD. I know people who use that as a truck as the rear seats can be folded like a SUV.

That is a great suggestion also. You can pick up a Legacy GT for a decent price. We owned a Legacy Outback 2.5 Turbo 5 speed. You want to talk about a sleeper...It was amazing walking away from people that thought it was a slow subaru wagon. We really miss the versatility of that car, it could tow 3500lbs, was quick, TONS of room, AWD, etc. It also had a rare find of heated cloth seats. I fit a 50" plasma TV in the box in the back of that car with ease. It was really a great all around car.
