Yes, I'm sure you've heard that there is different sound deading products. I would say RAAMAT is the best bang for the buck. I personally think Dynamat is over priced. Second Skin is the BEST sound deading you can buy. I believe one of their products is similar in price ot Dynamat.

I would just measure the door area and buy around that much. It would probably be a little less than that considering their are motors and such you will have to cut around. You need to also think about how many layers you will do.
 
well i got the mega bulk pack off ebay for 300, its 9 big sheets, i think 24x48 so u need to split it in halves to do the inner layer, and cut a big sheet for the outer layer. also u should have about 1 sheet for the floor of trunk and 1.5 for the tailgate, thats inner and outer layer together.

What do you mean by layers? Is one not enough?
 
inner layer means the panel inside the door where the windows hide in, the outer mean what u see like the wirings and the finish part of door b4 the speaker is in.
 
Do you already have everything installed?

If not I would probably hold off on the deading. You might not know where the rattles are going to come from.

The rear hatch seems to be a big problem for me.
 
I have the K2Ps in the front and stock in the rears. I have the next set of Focals ready to go in. I was going to install the deadening when I took my truck to my shop to install the rear components.

I have no subs or anything so I doubt i will have any rattling from the rear hatch. My 98' Limited had that problem though with my Focal sub in there.

Clemson, Have you heard of this other sound mat that these guys are talking about? Do you agree with putting in two layers in?

No, I haven't heard of the one Juiceboxer posted. It's really your call. Either go with something that has proven itself, but costs more or something unprove that costs less.

It is good to do a layer on the inner door and a layer on the outer door. If I were doing it I would buy what I could afford. After that I would put one layer down on everything I want covered. If there was some left over then I would go back and put more layers on.
 
Obviously some is better than none, but i was hoping to do only the doors on this 4Runner. May do the whole thing on the next one.

At this point I am so thrilled with the way my Focals sound now that I think that when I put the second set of components in AND put the sound deadening in it will be unreal......

And then one of these days i will quit being a girl and decide on an amp
 
I bit the bullet and bought around 75 sq feet of second skin today. Hopefully I can get down to my shop next week and install it.
 
Good choice in my opinion. I just checked the prices and you can get 80 feet of Damp for less than 72 of Dynamat and 80 Damp Pro for the same as Dynamat. Seems like you can't go wrong with Second Skin.
 
Yeah the lady at the shop couldn't stop talking about it. I guess she did her 32' Chevy in it and said it was amazing the difference it made.

I thought it was going to come in a roll but actually came in 12x20 sheets.

The lady also said the roller was a piece and that she thought it worked better with a fist. Any thoughts on that?
 
use the roller last to smooth it out and get all bubles out, but becareful not to roll to hard, or u will make a dent on the panel.
