Removing the running boards helps a lot. The third gens are the worst. The running boards are like skis and just lift the truck up and away from traction. With the running boards removed it's a tank in the snow.

I've driven though 14 inches of flat (non drift) snow.

Same here, no snow in Ms but I've been thru 2' of slick ass Ms gumbo mud with 31" Buckshots and no lift. This thing is a beast in the mud!! 94 SR5 4X4 3.slow

My 4R was pitiful in the deep snow last Winter, had to pull it back onto the driveway and take the Land Cruiser. It needed more clearance, and better tires. Nokians coming, hopefully that makes a difference. I might lose the running boards if that will help, don't want to lift as I'm on the highway a lot. I do miss my old 80-series and the locking diffs, don't miss the mileage.

I don't remember how deep on-road, but I decided to tear up my friends yard which had some big drifts. I ended up getting stuck for a little bit because of the snow being packed up to the running boards but I got out. I'd remove my running boards but I don't want to see any rust on my frame.
