We have SB1 to thank for increased registration (as well as additional 0.12 cents in gasoline tax and 0.20 cents on diesel).

Hope you voted YES ON PROP 6 last November.

Last year for me it was $534. This year it is $438. So it did go down a bit.

Dude, my original purchase price was $40K... why are you paying $100 less than me this year?! (Well, $40 of that is my vanity plate).

Yes, it goes down a bit every year, but...

This is my first new car in 10 years. I don't recall it being this painful back then.

I guess every little bit of the sales price counts especially since that we live in CA. When I first bought it last year the license/reg fees were $518 so this year at $445 is down considerably. Hopefully it will go down to $3xx next year's renewal.

I also just paid $180 renewal 2006 Tacoma and it's actually up like $50 from last year so I was shocked.

You can thank our last Governor ("Moonbeam") for that. And the huge gas tax as well. Part of the joy of living in the "golden state".

Some areas of the state do emissions testing - That would likely be more $$$. In my area there is no emissions testing.

Emissions+inspection =~ $23

Can't recall exactly, but less than $25.
