How much should I ask for my 2001 4Runner?

Can you guys please help me price my 2001 4Runner? In reading the forums and checking car sale sites, these 3rd Gen Runners sometimes go for more than KBB or other pricing sites so I thought I'd check here to see what you guys think.

4runners, tacomas and most toyota 4x4 sells way above KBB. take a look at 1st gen 4runners.. those go at $4000 and up when in fair condition.

I personally wouldn't feel bad asking for $6500 firm. No rust and relatively low miles is a huge plus, not everyone wants or needs an e locker.

Being in Ontario, Canada and sole owner of my 97, I am always amazed when I look at the under bodies of trucks that have never been in the salt belt. I'd have to ask 7-8 grand.

Yeah! My estimate is right. I spent 6+ months looking for a good 3rd gen 4x4 4runner. I was amazed how expensive these are even after 16+ years old.

With a solid truck like yours with maintenance records and the OWNER selling, the price is 7500 firm! But I am sure someone will be willing to give 8000 for it.

Tell me whats better then a 3rd gen 4runner? I know the 4th and 5th gens have problems so upgrading to a newer one is not good, also what other 4wd truck will last as long as these, none. just keep it and drive it for 500k :D, the last 1999 and 2002 are the best, just throw a e locker on it will only take 10 min

Wow, those are some high price suggestions...

A rig like that with bloated CA prices would be listed somewhere around $7000 with a goal of at least $6500 being a good deal (everyone will low ball, shoot high and you get what you actually want). I'm pretty sure KBB is gonna say something like $4500, underpriced.

in colorado he can get 10k easy, If I lived by the beach or flat lands where no snow, a sports car is ideal i think.
 
I've been reading as much as I can on the forum to try to get some idea about the T4R. Your post about the 4th and 5th Gens having more problems makes we think I should look for a 3rd Gen. I like the idea of a "used" price, but I was worried that a vehicle that old might be problematic.

I'm also wondering if ANY generation is really overkill for what we need. I love the look of the 3rd Gen, but is it too much vehicle for towing a 900-lb PeeWee camper (a teardrop that is not set up for off-roading)?
 
BlackBook says $7350 for clean trade for a 2002 like yours, 4x4. Average trade is $6250. Retail between $8200 and 9700.

Ditto. I'd ask 8 Grand. Don't be surprised if a Canadian (or Northern Sates)contacts you and willing to pay that. It's a great deal to them.

Things are only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, and being that clean (rust free) with low mileage... even without the e-locker, it would surprise me if you couldn't find someone willing to pay premium.

4runners and Tacomas are desirable/sought after vehicles.

The overall reputation of a 4runner of pretty much any generation is that it will and can do pretty much anything that you want or need it to do (without breaking a sweat). There aren't many vehicles out there that are as versatile and as reliable.

The decision usually just comes down to fuel economy, lol. One of the few cons of owning a T4R.
