how often is your back window rolled down?

in the summer, when its parked, I leave the back window cracked open. I do not worry about rain getting in during thunder showers and it keeps the interior much cooler.

I love that it rolls down. I want a Tundra just because of that... and my wife is 100% with me on that too.
Maybe Ford will follow suit when I'm ready to buy a new pickup- that would really tickle my fancy.

Brother...Brother...why the hell would you ever consider a Ford/Chevy/Dodge when you can own a Toyota??? From someone who has had lots of experience with all of them from the small to the diesels.
 
Lots in the Summer, except dusty off road trips, or when I tow. Infrequently in the Winter, sometimes to help clear the windows and when the wet dog smell becomes over powering, usually in the Spring and Fall! The dog loves the window down!

I had an '04 crew cab long box Powerstroke, and would have kept it if it had been an '05 with the coil sprung front end. I will be buying it to haul a toy hauler and car haulers. A Tundra might be able to do that, but a full size diesel will do it much better. All my buddies have Dodge pickups with Cummins engines. Like most things, if you take good care of them, they'll take care of you too [emoji1360]

I have experience with the ford/chevy/dodge diesels. There is a reason every single major diesel engine company for heavy trucks (class 8 or bigger) use an in line 6!! Our in line engines out pull the V's 2 to 1!!
 
All the time! All the timeeeeeee, its my favourite feature ever and everyone who sees it thinks its so sick. It's great for flipping off douchebag drivers, it regulates airflow so amazing on the highway. Front windows down and the rear down 6-10", completely takes the wind out of your face and since it's only down a little, no dust or exhaust fumes come in.
 
If you have a tire carrier it comes in handy when you want to throw something in the back, like croceries, without having to unlock and swing it out in a parking lot
 
I roll mine down every chance I get, but never in the summer!!

Am having a rear bumper made that will have a swing out tire career on the left side, and a ladder on the right. I don't think Ill be able to use it for quick loading anything of size anymore...Will have to see how it all comes together
 
I roll it down amy time it is below 85ish when driving my wife's 2016. I expect I will do the same with my new 3rd gen!

Having the windows down often keeps things fresh, and I have always just enjoyed the slightly better connection to the outdoors (and the increased fuel efficiency), of having the windows down.
 
I second 43bones. I roll it down for my husky and shepard, until I hit trails, then it goes up so I don't choke any of us.
 
As a hyper-miler who aggressively monitored fuel consumption, I am absolutely, 100% sure I got better fuel efficiency with the windows down except at the highest speeds with my Honda Fit. As in, an ~8-10% increase with the windows down and AC off during off-highway driving. My car was rated at 32mpg, and averaged 44-45ish without the AC, and 40-41 ish with it, in warm weather, on my current commute. A few years ago, when my commute involved a lot more stoplights, it was more like 38-39, vs 42-43mpg.

I havent driven the 5th gen much (it is the wife's), and understand the AC uses a much smaller portion of the larger engine's power, but my initial observations show about a 1-1.5mpg decrease with the AC on vs windows down/AC off during my current, relatively-fluid, but off-highway commute (21-22 vs 22-23mpg, on 33" tires).

I understand the mechanics of the fuel consumption differences between the aerodynamic drag of windows vs the AC, and understand in certain circumstances like constant higher speeds the AC is more efficient. But, calling it universally "myth busted" is an absolute overreach ;) . Hell, even in that episode their findings matched my own regarding windows down being more efficient at lower speeds.

Of course, there is a certain dollar value for not showing up to your destination sweaty, but when im just bebopping around in a T-shirt on a nice day, Ill take natural cooling every time!

I used to roll mine down during the summer when parking to release some of the hot air. Since tinting my windows, I only roll down on occasion for a little ventilation.
 
When I first bought this truck the rear window always got stuck, so I never used it. If any one has some tips on a stuck/slow back window they are very much welcomed.
 
I use it when it's hot out and I have other windows down and when I am backing up to a trailer or a tow strap to pull my buddy out like last weekend. It's really nice for communication and making fun of your buddy as you back up to his strap.
