to be frank, im not that well educated in the process of waxing/polishing. all i did since i got my car was just washing it with car soap. Its been about 6 months now since i got it.
I want to polish/wax it. how often will i have to do this? do i have to polish it everytime before i wax?
oh. and im willing to buy an orbital buffer from autobarn.
will i be using it alot?
sorry for the questions.
thanks in advance!

We need more info. :D

Was your truck new? Where do you live, work? Park in a garage?

I park in a garage at home. I'm not near any industry or in a city. I don't park under trees at work. I use Klasse "All in One" and "High Gloss Sealant." It last over 6 months.

I'll wash my vehicle, clar bar, wash again, dry, apply 1 -2 coats of All In One, then apply 1 -2 coats of Sealant.

I apply by hand. I have a cheap Turtle Wax polisher to help out. Use an acrylic Quick Detail spray after I wash and dry to maintain the shine.

You can use an orbital.

I will probably try Menzerna Final Polish, Glaze, FMJ next.

Lots of info at www.autopia.org

If you live in a city, or park under trees most of the time, Meguiar's NXT is a good choice. It cleans and protects the paint in one step, last about 6-8 weeks.

well. i found alot of information. thanks for the links.
well i live in the suburbs. My car is outside 24/7 near/under trees.
I got it in december so im wondering if a detailed work would be needed.

It all depends on how much free time you have and how you want your vehicle to look. I have three vehicles and a busy family life with children; so I only polish & wax twice a year. I would like to do it every three months, but I cannot seem to find the time. I would never polish without applying a wax immediately after. Thai has an excellent write-up in the Detailing Section (Sticky). I followed it to a tee. It works very well for me.

At a minium you should polish, wax or seal your paint every 6 months/twice a year. Good maintenence in between polishing such as frequent washes, quick detailing (spray) and waxing (at least every 2- 3 months will help maintain your finish and keep it looking its best. Remember carnuba waxes don't last as long as a paint sealant.
