How rare are factory heated seats? And who has them?

Heated seats only were standard on LIMITED MODELS, starting in 2001 only it seems.

not the best placement for buttons.

Yea. I'm a dealer for a company that will make heated mirrors for the 3Rd gen, also with built in signal mirrors in the glass (invisible until you signal) oem type look. If you think you want, shoot me a text, etc.

I have them in my '01. They're a nice feature for the wife, but only work so well with the wet okole seat covers on top of the leather, and take a while to heat up to really warm you up. The buttons do take up the prime locations to mount rocker switches sadly, so I had to cut out the area under it.

I took some out of a 2001 limited at the junkyard and swapped em in my 1997. Wired it up and it all works. Now my bum stays warm.

You sure Scramble? My 99 limited has them. They come on with the rear window defrost button. I would think that would be a standard item on a 99 Limited, but honestly, I'm not sure.

My old 99 SR5 has them so I’m almost certain your limited does

Maybe I do, none of the buttons by the climate control work except the two dials so I do have heat & fan speed but that's it. The vent mode is stuck on windshield/feet so that's fine for me. When the spring comes & I don't need heat or A/C I'll send you my unit.

My '99 Limited has them, you have no independent control of them, they're wired in w/ the rear defroster. It's so odd that Toyota has both seat controls where the passenger can't control their own seat.

In central texas my heated seats are not just for our 'winters' but especially useful to keep foods hot getting them home, woohoo! :cowboy:

I have an SR5 and added aftermarket heated pads. I actually took the time and removed the factory leather to add the heated element. My wife loves it. Here's how I did the buttons:

No they’re referring to the heated side view mirrors that come on with the window defroster.

Previous owner of my 2000 SR5 put them into my leather seats. Love them.

What a deal! My other vehicle which has them standard, literally I can feel the heat on my butt in 30 sec - 1min. Are these fast like that?

I think the ones that came stock on the 01-02 4Runners take much much longer.
