How screwed will i get by insurance

Friday i was in an accident. It was not my fault whatsoever. I pulled up to the light, i was the second car at the light turning left. The car in front of me had her reverse lights on, so i stayed back 2 car lengths in case she didn't realize it. Well the light turns green and she hits the gas and comes fast backwards and slams into the front end of my car. I get out, we both exchange information and a cop shows up and makes sure everyone's OK then leaves. I got his name and told him what happened, but he never made an official report.

I took my car to the body shop immediately because i need it back for my road trip Jan 13th. The grille, fender, flare, bumper, fog light and some supports will be replaced. Now im worried she will say that i slammed in to her because the way it happened is very weird and not expecting her to tell the truth obviously. The American way, lie so your premiums don't go up.

So whats the odds on how this will pan out for me? Because if its going to **** me over i don't want the body shop to handle it, ill buy a pre runner bumper and say screw it.

That sucks. It's too late now, but you have to DEMAND that the cop writes a report. I had something similar happen where I was leaving a parking lot and the woman in front of me apparently felt she was too far out and slammed it into reverse into me. We just exchanged info and when it came time to deal with insurance her story magically changed to where I rear-ended her. I was so pissed. We ended up just paying for our own damage.

yeah i should have made him file a report, she was so scared that she wouldnt have lied in front of a cop either. Im just pissed knowing ill get screwed on this. If im paying for my repairs then ill put it and do my own stuff.

My wife was involved in a fender bender a few years ago. Wife had a green turn arrow, and this guy ran a red light. She t boned him. Was completely the other guys fault, he even admitted fault to the cop when he showed and got a ticket.

His insurance company called my wife and told her they felt she was 20% at fault and would only cut us a check for "X" amount. My wife went off on this guy like a banshee. Our insurance agent (farmers) didn't do squat to help us out. We eventually got it worked out and they paid the full amount. Then we fired our agent.

Then another time I got rear ended, cops never did show up, we exchanged info and I eventually left. His car was smashed. Next day I got a phone call from his insurance telling me if I find anything wrong with my vehicle or myself call them immediately. A week later I ended up with a $2700 check for a broken seat and a rear bumper. Needless to say I was amazed....

So, expect to play games, don't setttle for anything less than you deserve.

I would say if she lies and you can't prove your story you will probably be found at fault. Worse part is you may be on the hook for her repair as well. Were there any witnesses who would say they saw her in reverse, could be your only chance.

Well I got a phone call at 8:50pm. She left me a voicemail asking to call her back. This is also from the same number my insurance claim person said the number she gave me (they called her) and she acted like she didn't speak English. So I immediately played my voicemail on speaker with the agent on the other line so he heard and had it on recording. He said he will be calling her insurance tomorrow.

Hopefully this is something they can spin in my favor.

Similar experience ith me. A woman pulled out in front of me from another lane, I smashed into the rear corner of her truck, as she still hadn't gotten straight yet. She admitted to the cop she didn't see me, and pulled right out in front of me. When I finally talked to her insurance agent, he said " we still don't know whose fault it it. She said she was in the lane for a second before you hit her". So apparently her story had changed. I told the insurance agent that I would have the cop call him and tell him the story, and he said " good luck, cops don't take time to call people back". Needless to say, about 10 min later the cop was calling the agent, because he was so pissed the woman had lied.

So, it may take some effort, but you can get the truth out of people, especially when they think they're about to be caught in a lie.

I'm glad it worked out for you, but you should have never have had to do all that in the first place. It pisses me off how little accountability people have. When you do something wrong, own it. Step up and do what you can to make it right.

got off the phone with State Farm, they are going to go to the body shop tomorrow or friday. They also are determining if my non insured motorist insurance will kick in. Shes made no attempts to call back my insurance and has called me a few times. So she's purposely ignoring my insurance.

Hopefully that kicks in so i wont have to pay my deductible and i hope they nail her to the cross.

This is why I have a functioning dash camera active at all times. No telling what crazy things people will do and it will always tell the truth when it's your word against someone else's.

Sure, it's called SmartCam. It's a 1080p HD dash cam. It's pretty good quality for a dash cam. Very stable and secure. Signs are clearly visible, even at night. License plates are a little blurry though. It's great at what it is.

I'm sorry for you but glad you posted this. Now if I am ever in that situation and I see the person in front of me with reverse lights on, I will creep all the way up to her bumper so she can't get any speed when she comes back at me.

You are very lucky! Always demand a police report when something like that happens. Somebody in my family got screwed with a similar situation.
