How to disable "AUTO headlight turn off" function

Hi Guys,
do anybody know how to disable "auto headlight turn off" feature on 02' truck?

usually my light switch is on AUTO position and it works for me perfect,
but few weeks ago I install remote car starter and now if I leave light switch on AUTO and then remote start and stop truck lights stay ON until battery die (driver door needs to be open to turn it off).

I would not bother with turning switch ON/OFF each time I leave truck.
Would be nice to disable "Auto light turn off" and lights will be shut off in moment when engine is off.

Thanks for any suggestions.

Are you ok with never being able to turn on the headlights if they key is not in the ACC or ON position? If so, there is probably a way to re-wire it...

I more thinking about removing "waiting for open door" feature from light system.
Light switch should work normally just don't need keeping lights on when I turn off engine.

So you need to fool the light controls into thinking the driver's door is open at all times, but not any other system... That might be difficult, as that it controlled inside the gauge cluster, I believe.

I also thinking this way but if I use relay to simulate door open my alarm will be triggered ( when remote starter shut off engine, automatically re-arm alarm system).

Hi Guys,

Since I have an 'identically' OEM wired 01 with aftermarket remote start without the feature your's developed, I'd say the install wiring is wrong somewhere. The headlights function just as before the alarm/remote install.

I wouldn't know where, I had it installed professionally.

My headlight function also works like before installation.

Could you check something please? set light switch to AUTO, lock truck and then remote start / stop engine. let me know please that yours headlights (not position lights) light up and after stop engine lights shut off or stay?

Thanks

With the caveat that I set the light switch to Auto before turning engine off, then locking and remote starting, lights come on then off when I shut engine down or even if I forget and the remote shuts engine off automatically after 8 mins. If set I set light switch On after shutting off, it will stain on till the batt is dead. :cowboy:

Thanks,
you're correct, when I ask you to switch to AUTO position I mean ON position (position 2), on position OFF (position 1) my headlights shut off with engine off.
so it means we have same configuration and system works like it should. I have find the way to override it,
