How To Fix ObamaCare

I'm one of the few people who to date hasn't been affected. I will have to check with my GF since she has a different work plan but at my company (20,000+) we have been promised that our rates will not increase for 2014. I realize that my company may in fact be paying higher rates due to this fiasco but at least it isn't getting passed on to us ... yet.

My 2013 rate for Kaiser in So-Cal was roughly ~$180 paid by employer and ~$40 paid by employee, twice a month.

I am 31, no kids, no medical illness history, non smoker.

2014 rates are guarenteed to stay the same and 2015 ... well its not looking good :(

Since ACA passed my company went from three available plans down to one (dropping the one I preferred), my monthly contributions will have gone up 45% starting in January, and I got a letter from my doctor saying he has to quit and go back to ER medicine; so yes everything BO promised was a lie, plus check the news about the millions of policies canceled and counting.
I don't think you can fix the ACA. if you take a 2000-page piece of legislation and try to "fix" it, you'll end up with a 3 or 4000-page bill.... just like they try to fix the tax code every few years.
I have to admit though it is funny to watch BO this week try to backtrack... his arrogance is astounding to think he has the power to personally tell insurance companies to re-establish canceled policies, and its an extension of only 1 year, what good will that do?
First ACA needs a 100% repeal. then, the conservatives have some good ideas like allowing purchase of policies across state lines. if this administration would stop stifling the economy and get out of the way, we could have an economic recovery and health costs would be less of an issue.

winner!

as said above the government cant even successfully manage the post office, and we're supposed to rely on them for healthcare? no thanks.

For the record, I'm not overly religious either. So I don't entirely agree with Thai's youtube link.

The point of the video is not about religion, but to show how much blind people are and how the liberals are using this ignorance to suppress them.

It is just not current employees that are affected, retirees are also affected...see IBM and GE.... :roadkill:

I assumed that was your intent. I just wanted to make clear that I didn't agree entirely with the Pastors comments.

Where I differ specifically:

While I don't think abortion should be used as a form of irresponsible birth control, in cases where the health of the Mother is at risk, I'm okay with it.

Knowing some people that are gay, I don't think it's a conscious choice they made, but rather it's just inate. So who am I to tell consenting adults who they should love?

Agree with you. I don't think that any religion is against abortion if mother's life is at stake...or in rape cases.

As for homosexuality, i agree. You're born with it genetically. However, you also have idiots like Lindsay Lohan or other folks that jumps sides depending on how the wind blows (or publicity).

BTW, i am non-religious as well...but i believe that there is a (hands off) God.

I should have also mentioned in cases of rape, of course a woman should be able to get an abortion.

As long as we're talking consenting adults, I couldn't care less what Lindsay Lohan or any other so-called 'celebrities' do. I only wonder why it's considered news.

I believe we're mostly in agreement.

Woman Hailed by President as Obamacare Success Story Now Can't Afford Obamacare | The Weekly Standard

Obamacare mom can't afford Obamacare.

Just like when Obama was running around the country celebrating how the recovery has kept factories open, and those factories have since closed... the woman whose success story he hailed in his Rose Garden as an example of the "savings" of the ACA can't afford her insurance because the web site and exchanges miscalculated her subsidies.

Turns out the Gold plan she was getting for 170 bucks a month with reasonable deductibles is now a Silver plan for about 400 bucks with sky high deductibles--that she can't afford so she will go without insurance and pay the Obamacare penalty.

Sticker shock is real. This plan and president are a failure.

Define failure. Some would say it is working according to plan. ndcent mentioned in his first response in this thread what this is all about....conversion to a single-payer system. In that regard, it all seems to be working well.
