Likely needs a new liftgate. If the insides are not rotted, a skilled body shop could weld metal back but getting the latch to align is critical. Is this a pre purchase inspection?

Agreed, a new hatch to make it perfect. But a bit of deconstruct/fab/weld could make it work for a bit.

Yeah pre pre-purchase. The underneath of the car looks pretty rust free. The rest of the car is really nice and taken care of.

honestly just pass. a used liftgate you need to find right colour and no rust, if it's early 5th gen going to be hard. maybe youre lucky and can get one for $500. you can probably buy a new one for $1,000 or so, then you need paint, and if the vehicle is old/sun beaten etc it wont match. then transfer all the rear hatch items. with rust like that the rear window tabs are probably rusted and will break off from the window (bad day), the rear window motor and regulator are probably rusty too.

with rust that bad I dont believe the rest of the vehicle is just fine. how are the pinch welds on the bottoms of the doors? hitch receiver where spare tire is etc.

Thousands. Used junkyard part is $1000-1500. That's with nothing on it. You have to swap out all the trim and parts, then paint it. Not worth it. I find it hard to believe the rest of the car is rust free. But it may be possible. If the seller took $5K off the price and all else checks out, maybe consider it.

Do y'all see anything else I'm not? It fits every box im looking for. 2014 with 180k miles.

really look close at theh bottoms of all the doors too. Mine developed tailgate rust like that, but it's elsewhere on the body panel.

Oddly, my frame looks almost perfect.
