You shouldn't have to. Same concept as changing a fuse.

It's pretty cool isn't it!
I'm so glad I did this, I love watching other 4th Gen owners drive by, and they noticed my fogs on, with my headlights off. You know they are messing with the switch trying to figure out how I did it (lol)

i was doing some research on the light mods and i have a question... the jumper in the streering column... what doe the do exactly? does it make your fogs stay on with highs or is it the mod for the fogs by it self? thanks. late

Thanks for the posts guys. Going to give it a try this weekend. With having all the lights on (highs, lows & fog), will the switch and alternator be able to handle this load? Especially if you're running with all 6 on for extended periods of time?

I'm sure you have nothing to worry about unless you're running a winch at the same time too

DRL Headlights & Fog Lights

I did the two stage fog light mod this past weekend, thanks to the info on the posts it was simple. Now they work with the parking lights and headlights as well as the highbeams.

My next question is related to the DRLs. I know there is a post somewhere on having them stay on with the headlights and wiring the unused terminal to the parking lights. I'm planning on doing this, but it seems as that there should be a simple "jumper" connection similar to keeping the fogs on with high beams (wire jumper behind steering wheel). I noticed the DRLs stay on with the parking lights and only go off with headlights.

Does anyone know if this is possible or what terminals would need to be jumped?

If anyone is interested in keeping their fog lights on with the high beams...all you have to do is ground the pin shown in the pic below.

I saw you changed to muth mirror......my question is...is it the view like the original ones? do you feel confortable when you look at the mirror, are they still work fine?

Independant auto-off foglights (w high beams)

I just finished doing parts one and two of the foglight mod that I got from this forum and another- They will now turn on alone or with any and all other lights but will shut off when I take out the keys. :biggrin2:

Finally did this mod today on my 04 Sport. I tied Pin 2 of the Fog relay to the parking lights similar part 1 of the approach. But just couldn't stop til I tied pins 16 and 17 of the C12 connector together under the steering wheel for HI/LO operation as in part 2. Results..

Fog light switch still controls on/off of Fogs all the time.
BUT At least parking lights have to be on for Fogs to come on. (Parking lights control the relay now)
Fogs work in any combination with Parking lights/ Low Beams/ Hi Beams

I love this place. Started to do the original approach straight but didn't want the fogs to come on unless I turned parking lights on. This alternative method controls that.. took about 45 minutes to do both mods and that was mainly because wire colors were different and I had to get volt meter out to make sure I didn't screw something up.

Thank. This is a very SIMPLE mod, and work very well.

I did this mod also which there is a write up on it on the 120 form. And my fogs will come on with no other lights on, (by themselves).I don't know if it is has to do with me having the 08 model? I'm happy, I like it that way personally.
