Yes, those, the multi-mouse 4WD, along with everything else listed in the upgrades for the 99 model year.

On a side note, I tried out the PID for transmission temp listed at the beginning of this thread (-40, not -38), and it was telling me there was no data, but there were two other Trans temp sensors that came with Torque Pro, and the second one was reading a temp. Would that be it? I didn't run my truck for long to see what kind of operating temps I would get, but I'll be doing some driving around here in a couple hours so I can see what it'll read.

Sounds like your 4Runner is similar to mine; '99 Limited model with multi-mode. You should have the transmission temp info available to you.

I'm not familiar with Torque Pro, as I think that app is for Android phones (I'm using Engine Link for the iPhone). What PID is registering as transmission temp for you?

Disregard what I said in my first post, it was my mistake why the added PID want working, I had one of the numbers in wrong. I'm now seeing transmission temps!! Yay!

Is there a sensor for oil temp or oil pressure?

Never could get one for Torque/Android.

I was led to believe it was not available, but didn't know if one day it might be possible.

As far as I'm aware, there isn't an oil temp sensor on our rigs. I believe the oil pressure sensor only goes to the dummy light and does not report to the ECU, so there's not a way to view that info via the OBD port.

Just set up the TFT for my 2014, this is what worked for me, using iPhone6 & EngLink App & Wifi ELM327. Was a bit fussy as it took me a while to figure out the sequence:

1. engine off plug in Wifi ELM 327
2. engine on
3. open EngLink App (AFTER switching data off (this took my 30 minutes to figure out!)
4. add in Custom PID as below (all while engine is running as you will see it refreshes, the custom PID goes green and starts displaying).

Header: 0
PID: 2182
formula: ((((A*256)+B) * (7/100) – 400)/10)
Min value: 0
Max value: 300
Name: Trans Fluid Temp Pan
Unit factor: °F

Header: 0
PID: 2182
formula: ((((C*256)+D) * (7/100) – 400)/10)

Max value: 300
Name: Trans Fluid Temp Outlet
Unit factor: °F

5. switched everything off and repeated 2. & 3. and the app with the custom PID's came back to life! Pretty pleased on spending $25 to get this going.

Does anyone know how accurate these are? I got on hot idle not in gear about 128F in pan & 136F in outlet, then drove around for a bit, stalled it out on a hill and got the outlet to rise to 150F or so which all seems logical?

Bringing this back! I've got a 2016 4Runner TEP and am trying to get this setup to work. I've been able to create the custom PID as indicated above in the directions but it doesn't get a reading. In the PID screen in EngineLink the PID icon never goes green. I've rebooted the device(tried this on my iPhone 6 and a new iPad) with no luck. Other PIDs go green and I'm getting mpg, speed, average mpg etc.

Any thoughts on what the issue might be?

Maybe the PID for the 2016 is different?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Yeah, various generations of 4Runners are going to utilize different PIDs.

I don’t drive my ‘99 4Runner as much anymore, but I keep it around and use it to pull my boat in the summer time.

I’m using EngineLinkLE to monitor mostly transmission temp while I’m towing, but also AFR and LTFTs. I’m using this dongle called LELink^2 that I got off Amazon, and it connects to my iPhone 12 via Bluetooth no problem.
