How to trip the OBD2 EVAP I/M to complete?

So I need to smog my truck next week but I recently had to check and clear some codes first. Currently all I/Ms are go except for the EVAP system which for some reason has not completed its cycle.

I'm in California and I have a 1997 limited. I'm curious if anyone knows if California will pass it with one I/M not completed? Also, if anyone has any experience with triggering the EVAP system test I would be most appreciative.

I cleared the codes a few days ago and have since driven about 250 miles in a variety of conditions including about 10 miles of freeway driving. So far no joy.

Perfect! Now I just need to figure out where I can drive at 45 miles an hour for 5 minutes straight. Even worse will be trying to do 25 mph for 15 minutes and not catch a bullet.

I hear you. Try finding a place to drive 16 minutes at 45mph in New Jersey (for the Cat test). Only place with no lights or stop signs is the Interstate, where everybody goes 65+.

Mine passed smog when it wasnt completed. Some shops wont smog it if its not completed so I went and found one that would. Besides having to replace the O2 sensor it passed the smog fine.

Which one had it not completed? And how long ago was this? I'm surprised that it would be up to the shop. Seems like they would all be forced to use the same protocols and standards.

Most states allow 1 of the various smog systems to be in a "Not Ready" state, all others must be in a "Ready" state or no testing occurs. Ask me how i know! :cowboy:
