How to use grease gun with zerks.

I just picked up this same gun at Kragen. It works great for reaching all the driveline zerks on the runner. HOWEVER, I found that the check ball on a couple of the zerks was seized... no matter how much pressure I applied, and I'm sure it was fitted ontp the zerk straight and all the way, the grease just oozed out the sides of the gun's hose instead of going in. Anyone else had this problem? I was able to take the zerk fittings off w/ a 7mm ratchet, but unsure if it's a generic part or if I should pick up new zerks from Toyota directly for more $$.

Stuck check valves in the zerk fittings is fairly common. I have good luck using a sharp point, like an awl, to carefully push on the ball. Also, I hit it with a shot of WD-40 or PB blaster first. It usually will free up. If it doesn't free up, then you will have to replace it. Most auto-parts stores (NAPA) carry replacements.

from heavy equipment experience, a torch on the zerk to heat and loosen the hard grease will have them zirks eating grease in a minute. also i cant remeber exactly but i think i had 6 zerks on my 4th gen driveline.

Thanks for the tips guys, I'll give some heat and then some wd-40 a try before buying new fittings.

If you have a compressor you might want to think about getting an air grease gun. I got one like the picture below from Harbor Freight for about 15 bucks. I have been using one of these for years and couldn't imagine using a pump one ever again.
