I always enjoy doing this thread on various sites I belong to.
Usually nothing brings guys more together than cars and guns:D

Saying a little about what you own is up to u.
I'll start the ball rolling with H&K P7M8, HK91, ColT Govt. several collectibles, glock 19, 17L, Browning M8, Winchester 94's, Sako 443, Winchester 61, 1st & 3rd Gen Colt 6 shooter, Lugers.

Hoo Rah!

Approximately 20-some handguns (pisols and revolvers) ranging from .22 to .44 Mag (including three Glock models). Several .22 rifles and carbines,. Several 12 gauge shotguns. Several "military style" rifles and carbines of American, Chinese, and Russian descent (including my favorite - an M14). Also a Winchester model 94 lever action 30-30. That's all I can recall at the moment without going to my safe.

Do you remember the marlin 39? That was a great little 22?
until I found my win 61 and 62. I also forgot to mention a win 9422 Hi-Grade that when I saw itcome out with the factory engraving and chequering, I snapped up a few for posterity!!
I was a dealer until about 9-10 years ago.
I gotta charge up my camera and take a few pics for this, thinkin about the hi grade made me wanna get the 1 outa the safe that I use for show and tell! I'll post some pics later.

I miss my P220.

Dang divorce made me loose everything some years ago. Soon...very soon I shall start again! Probably with a Remington 870.

Rossmon1: how do your like your P7? I love the design and feel but have never sent anything downrange with one. I am thinking they would be a good home weapon as little kids can't cock it. (every other safety rule aside, I lock and store correctly).
 
The P7m8 is the safest sidearm that I own. The one time that I thought there might be an intruder in my house, it is the one i grabbed from a collection of at least 10 best in class pieces.
The ability to make it safe instantly and recock it for the 1st shot makes it so.
OTOH it is a tuff gun to master as it works differently from any other. It requires extra practice and then ruins your routine for other handguns.
In addition to its safety, it is extremely accurate, wellmade and jam proof. For example the flutted chamber allows for extracting spentcases w/o an extractor. (it has one) The magazines are as well made as the gun. No flimsy construction here, HK makes a mag that is as tough as the gun.
I am lucky enough to have one that I got from a retired highway patrolman that was tuned in germany where it was hardchromed, trigger job, stronger recoil spring and then imported by some small company in the miami area.

I have shot a P7M8 several times. I liked it very much, found it easy to shoot, and its "squeeze cocker" design seems to be about the safest there is.

I have wondered, though, about the pros and cons of its design being so different. You said "It requires extra practice and then ruins your routine for other handguns." I have had one other person suggest the same thing. Is it really that bad?

Personally I own a Wilson .45, Glock 27, RRA M-4 and a Benelli M4.
Hopefully I'm gonna buy a Springfield Armory M1A1 soon too.

I like the squeeze cocking idea because it IS so different. I can see how it could ruin a "mechanical mindset" or "muscle memory" (whatever ya wanna call it) for operation during stress.

Conversely, it is that very uniqueness that sets it apart. Kids won't know how to fire it, and neither will most of the two-legged predators who may try to take it and use it against someone.

Without the children side of the equation, I like the Glock and Sig designs myself. They just "feel" better to my grip.

.40 and .45 are my calibers of choice. Shotguns are my home defense apparatus of choice...even just a .410 will work very effectively in close quarters without going through the wall and endagering the kids or wife or neighbors.

the p7m8 is very user friendly, so a kid grabbing the gun i think is as likely to have an accident as anyone else. the squeeze part is not that strong a pull that a kid couldn't activate it.
My other gun of choice is my paraordinance P12-45 w/steel frame, its small its heavy for its size and 12 45's is a hefty package. I agree with the scatter gun concept and have a remington marine magnum. I had the benelli, i can't remember the model name with the cool collapsible stock, i love benelli auto actions but i sold the thing as it just got so valuable that i couldn't refuse the $$. that was years ago.
My pride and joy are my sig 210's. I have a /6 target and a slash 1
ex german boarder patrol with the dark blue finish and carry sights.
Well actually my 1st gen colt six shooter and my 2 Colt custom combat carry's are pride and joys too. Its a problem being proficient on one piece when you have many to choose from.
Thats why i kinda settled on the p7 and the p12.
Some may say its a problem I wouldn't mind having and truth is I don't mind at all. I just love mechanical things.
For the guy who asked is it a problem? It is, cause I take firearms seriously and you have to train constantly to know the drill. The p7 is a very different manual of arms.

Yes, I own several as well.....Various shotguns and rifles and a few handguns; most of them are used in the different types of hunting I do.

How accurate and reliable is the Papoose, and how would you rate it as a rifle to learn on for a child?
