How's the TRD Pro suspension?

Maybe I should rephrase.....

On the road, I kind of like how my BMW X5 feels..... the suspension is nice and tight and not bouncy.... it corners well @ speed.... is that achievable?

Now, for offroad, I don't know what I need..... took the X5 out to some sand dunes once..... got stuck within 10min.....

Suspension/lift really has nothing to do with getting stuck in the sand. Air down those tires

Is there anything specific you don’t like about your current suspension?

About the X5 and sand, I think you hit the nail on the head by saying it was more likely inexperience than the truck.

Thanks for the insight. I was just thinking about getting *some* lift.... maybe not be 3" but... maybe 1" or 2"

I don't think I can do that with "stock", right?

PS. the $1500ish budget is just for the suspension..... I do have some more budget set aside for TRD Black Wheels and BFG TA KO2s

Sorry to keep being a PIA....but what's the reason for the lift? Looks? If so, and nothing with that, you can do spacers. If you are driving over rocks and banging the bottom than a suspension lift is in order.

Again, for most stock height is more than enough.

I want a luxury car ride on street/freeway, while being capable offroads.

I read the "lift thread", and my brain was spinning, I just don't understand most of what was said in that thread to even try to make a decision. This is a clear case of "I dont know what I want". :ybrick:

I am probably willing to spend around $1.5K installed for a system.

Luxury ride on road and capability off road all for $1500? Good luck with that. You can't have everything, especially not on your budget. Any time you do a mod, especially the suspension, there's going to be sacrifice. A stiffer ride might be better for offroading but it might not be so good for the street.

The reason why there's no consensus #1 recommendation on lifts is because everyone's needs are different. You'll see recommendations anywhere from Toytec, Bilsteins, Fox, OME, Icons, Kings, Walker Evans, Sonoran, etc etc and everyone will say theirs is the best. Everyone has their own opinion which is why you asking people for the best suspension kit is kind of useless and not to mention been asked about a million times.

If you don't know what you want then how do you expect others to tell you what's best for you? If the "Lifted" thread has your head spinning then I suggest you spend some more time on here doing more reading/research and calling up Toytec or Wheelers offroad with questions.

I thought that there are a couple of "go-to" configurations, that most people agree are good bang for the buck, and "popular".....

For example, TRD pro package (but now it seems like for the same money, you can get something better), all-around 5100, Toytec BOSS...... ICON seems like a crowd-pleaser but then I figured out that they have so many package from $1500 to $3k or $4k or more.... so I am shying away from it...

I am leaning towards Toytec BOSS, seems like similar cost vs TRDpro setup, while *I think* is better than TRDpro?

I haven't figure out if I need the reservoir rear shocks yet.... the TRDpro got it, the BOSS doesn't....

Lastly, I am pretty lost whether I need an UCA or not...

*sigh*

PS. I do want to run 275/70R17 and I want guarantee that it won't rub.... that's another reason why i want a lift

factory UCA's will work with about 1.5" of lift in the front to level it out... anything beyond that you'd probably be best off with an aftermarket UCA.

Also there aren't many tire manufacturers that make tires in 275/75/17...

I think the best tire size is 265/70/17 or if u really want to push it, 285/70/17... but still being able to keep close to the oem mpg / handling. although 285's are pretty big!

No such thing because people do different things with their trucks and have different ride preferences. The suspension that works for the off roading I do combined with the extra weight on my truck isn't going to work for a Baja racer.

^Right. But if I had to guess the most ‘popular’ would be 5100 with SAW 1.5 Rear Coils which based on what the OP has said so far would be the best bang for his buck and give him the look he is going for.

Light Racing UCA if is so inclined but not required.

Add your tires / wheels and then you can park next to any off roader with pride!
