Awesome transition to an even more awesome rig!! Didn't see anything about a rear locker... thought about adding one?

Well, lets see some pics!

Let me start with saying we were not successful this year.

I had the bull tag, my uncle had the cow...and we got nothing. Had about a dozen close encounters on the North facers, just never had a good shot....and I am anal about a good shot as injuring an animal is not cool.


Either way I got some photos, I will share the ones on here that are more directed to the vehicle, but the whole album is here:

Rig Updates

Apologies for the lack of photos, but there have been 2 updates since elk season

1.) Optima Red Top battery
After the wheeling trip that can be seen on another thread of 2 Mile Road, I destroyed the battery. So I bit the bullet on the dry cell, and it seems to be a good purchase

2.) Picked up a 285/75/16R BFG KM unused for $100, so that is my new spare....looks way better than the small one and I will get some photos up as soon as possible!!

Winter is upon us

Well I live in the woods, as some of you have picked up. So working on the truck is minimized for the next 4 months.... : (

I picked up a new toy for the season, so that I can at least enjoy my time off with the feet of snow to come!!

In the photos you will also see the full sized spare that I previously mentioned.....

That should suffice to keep me occupied this Winter!! For those of you that are snowmobile savy, it is a 2011 Ski-Doo Summit SP. The SP package for 2011 has the improved brakes, skies, UCA's and LCA's. With the 2.25" lugs, I figure I should be able to get through any amount of snow that the big man chooses to throw at Colorado!!

Couple Wheeling Shots!

So my buddy and I missed the Colorado group get together somehow, and were scanning the CB the entire time....however still managed to have a great day!

I did get stuck, and he got stuck 1 time bad....which in turn made me break my 'come-a-long' but that is all the more reason to just get a real winch. However, the come-a-long did help in other areas.

In reality the trails we did were not challenging....however the snow against my tires and some inexperience on the trail made for our own challenges!!!

So as for now all I have done with the rig this Winter:

1.) New tailights (purchsed used from t4R classifieds)

2.) New rear u-joints (had the work done in prep for this trip)

3.) Usual maintenance (lube and inspection work)

My uncle learned that I was working on a 4Runner and wanted it 4WD ready, so for Christmas he gave me his old KC Daylighter 4WD lights. They are the Halogen bulb lights that are great for night wheeling, they pull a lot of energy but I still just run 1 battery. I directly wired them from a switch in the dash to the battery with an in line fuse to protect the lights (wiring not shown).

As part of the bumper installation, I put the lights in the slots the bumper came with

Here is another shot of the lights. They are not the 'slim-light' profile but they do not protrude beyond the front of the bumper...and for a gift, I could not argue with the price!!

And just a couple of shots during the day before I got the $15.99 KC protection cages for the front

when you ordered your bumper did you get the limited one or regular bc my 4runner isn't a limited but the fenders stick out like yours.

Glad to hear you finally got the stock spare tire off the back of that thing. The BFG KM looks much more @ home on the CBI. You'll like the Optima too. I've been running them for years... in fact the '97 has one under the hood to this day.

How did the snowmobiling season pan out? I know you guys got a lot of late season dumps. There's a guy here at work who's been inviting me all season but we haven't bee able to link up. I've heard it's a blast until you get stuck.

The truck looks AWESOME as usual... I'm not too sure about those new tail lights though. I think the stockers looked better.

BigFish, thanks for the props!! The KM came with a great price, brand new for $100....could not say no even though it is not a match. However, I am almost conviinced that this will be my next tire selection!!

The battery has not let me down yet, let's hope it holds up better than other one which I had to jump with a 4wheeler to not be stranded at 10,000 feet!!

Snowmobiling season.........WELL with the new machine, I was ready for our usual 200-250" at the house, and we got HALF of that!! It was all late season dumps though, and I was only able to put on 600 miles (about 3x the typical snowmobile season miles)!!! They are an absolute riot, and yes are a nightmare when stuck. Imagine being in a 6' snowbank when your machine is on terrafirma and you have to just DIG.....haha. It is a great workout, and taking powder shots to the face rivals that of a great powder day on the ski hill. Remember I maxed this out a 96 mph, so that should explain why it is such a kick!

I am on the fence about the lights, right off the bat I almost took them right off, as they have somewhat of a 'rice' look (not to disrespect anyone). However they have grown on me since they blend in more with my black color scheme on the lower half. We will see if they pass the test of time

Yeah, that snowmobile was a bit out of the ordinary for me. But I had an unfortunate event with my ex, in which I was saving money every month for international flights....that ended so I went straight to the dealer and said 'I WANT THAT ONE!!' Money well spent if you ask me now!!!

AZ4FNER, thanks for the props! Its almost comments like that, that keep me doing the work to the Hulk!! Very rewarding to hear a fellow owner say those words.

Once this snow melts I will be back getting some wrench time. As it stands I have to snowmobile into my house, so the truck patiently waits in a parking lot 2 miles away while I use other toys during the Winter! Great time to ponder the next upgrades though....so stay tuned!!

It's funny you said that quote, as my neighbor just recently said that to me....however it was in reference to him. Currently he has 6 snowmobiles, an Argo, 4-5 4wheelers, and of course a couple trucks, a tractor....you name it!!

For me it is the Hulk and the snowmobile, but they are he## of a couple TOYS though!!!

As best I can tell they use the words 'limited STYLE' for a reason, as it does not HAVE to be a limited edition for those fenders. I may be wrong, but both the sport editions and the limited have the 'limited' flares with are color keyed.

Check below images (I do not know the model of either vehicle), but depending on which vehicle matches the fenders shown below will determine which 'width' to get. This is literally a direct quote from Shrockworks too, but if you would like pm me and I will forward you the whole email trail so you can see our conversation.

Left one is 'LIMITED STYLE'

Right one is 'Standard' - I ALSO ordered the limited style, which you already saw

So after I got back from the wheeling trip, I went straight to the house and did not wash the rig. This time of year, with such a crappy Winter, is considered mud season so there was no reason to clean it to just get muddy again.


Anyway, once I finally took to wash I was unpleasantly surprised with a new trail scar on the passenger rear fender and panel My buddy had put it on a tree, but I did not think we had contacted the tree that hard at all.

Anyway, here is the next project to get fixed! I am debating getting new fender flares, possible ones that are a little tougher....any ideas?!?!?!

Sucks to hear about the damage man! The quarter panel will have to be sprayed and buffed to get it to match the rest of the truck. The fender flares can be fixed, some filler, and again another spray, and you should be good to to.

I wouldn't buy another set of flares, as far as I know, any flare will do that, if it's brushed up against a tree.....

Hope you get the rig looking cherry again.....
