For some reason I'm drawn to hunting the river swamp. It's freakin hard. Food, water, and cover everywhere, they don't give a rip about dry land and will walk through water all day, impossible to pattern, and usually it's as thick as a wicker basket. AND, it's only accessible by boat, so add all that nonsense in as well....I love it.

Knocked down 60 quail between 6 of us yesterday. Not bad for the first hunt of the year. And I got to kill a skunk last night by the house by shooting the shotgun through a culvert and blasting it on the other side. First shot hit it hard but it wasn't completely dead so the second shot hit him square and launched him 3' and out the other side of the culvert. Needless to say it was a good time and mom is happy.

I live in east Tennessee but will be taking the new to me 2nd gen 4runner to Arkansas thursday for opening weekend of duck season in Arkansas. It will be her first road trip.

Hit a doe with an arrow at 30 yards right between the spine and lung. Tracked her for over 300 yards finding only little dime size blood spots in pitch black dark. I'm almost positive she slapped a band aid on the wound and is planning her revenge right now.

I got a nice 5x5 a few years ago, scored out 148. it made it into the records, but I never went down and paid to have it registered...
I should probably do that..
I hit a cow elk years ago, too high, in the neck. I think the arrow deflected off an unseen branch. she did the same thing. bled good right at first, then dried up to nothing. tracked her for 6-7 hours until dark, and then the next day. came up empty. sucks.
I got my trailer all set for late season. we're hauling it up on Saturday. we are getting a lot of rain, and a bit of snow mixed in right now. it will be nice to have the trailer, versus a tent like I previously used for this wet weather...
In Texas I "hunt" year round. This is eradication, not really hunting for food. I used to guide hunters doing this using night vision and thermal. Now I do it as a service to local orchards and dairy farms.

Got 2 decent size does this year for gun season. We'll see what happens for bow season, but I kinda used up all our doe tags on the 2 above! There's a couple good bucks in there though so here's hoping
