Ha. Well ok, my step dad wants the frame/rear end for his Plymouth project. I figured Id pull the motor and get it drop in ready, so when Im ready to do the swap I can just drop it in (dreams). Plus this way, its in dry storage instead of out side through the winter.

T case gears will still happen first. My squeaky throwout bearing is getting much louder, and the tranny may have to come down soon. So hopefully I can time it right (and the bearing lasts) and do the t case while its all out of the truck.

Once I finish getting the s10 stripped down, Ill have a bay back to drop the tranny/t case and check the squeek and get movin on the 4.7 gears.

Was doing my normal quick check of stuff while the truck warms up, I found all my front drive shaft bolts on the pinion side were loose. Glad I caught that one..

But the other one was 2 broken leafs in the drivers side pack. Bummah. Well rip em apart and change the leafs out. I also added a 7th leaf between the 4th and 5th leaf on both packs to help out the pack a bit, so far they seem to be working well. The ride is a little nicer and they flex about the same.

We had gotten a foot + of snow over turkey day, but most was already melted by the time I got in the woods today..

We got some real snow, to the tune of 18". Out breaking trails trying to keep them open through the winter. I fried my clutch. Throwout bearing squeeking really bad. Going to drop the tranny next week and see what I can find. Its just a cheapo auto zone clutch that I put in 5 years ago when it was still a dd, so not too bad.

Thanks! This is still considered quite a bit of snow for this early in the season, but that just fine by me! :smow:

Next run is on Jan 3rd. I plan to get a new clutch this friday, and get it swapped in christmas week to be ready! Im just going to get another off the shelf clutch.. this one was a auto zone cheap o and I made it last 4ish years... Once the t case gears go in, then I wont be clutching so much. I know I keep talking about them, but its gonna happen soon I swear! haha.

Got the trans pulled tonight, found my squeak noise. Read for this one? So the motor is out of an auto, we pulled the clutch off my old 3.0 and put it on the new one and bolted it all together... but autos dont come with pilot bearings... sooo oops. Ive been wheeling it with no pilot bearing for a few years. haha.

Trans input is tight as can be, no play whatsoever.. but the throwout bearing is seized...

Then drained the t case to lift it up on end to take the cross member off to tighten the trans mount..ew. Did not drain the trans yet.

New throwout bearing on, new Marlin shifter seat in the r150 and clutch is installed (and pilot bearing) . Tomorrow night it goes back together. My clutch was actually in ok shape. Not too badly worn, but where the throwout bearing were on the teeth had some groves, But the noise and the smell all came from the throwout bearing seizing and the plastic parts in it melting. .

Had a great weekend snow wheeling. No major breaks, but lost a fender (will go back on) and the center bearing in my rear drive shaft is getting pretty loose (extend cab pickup remember, 2 piece rear drive shaft)

Some shiny new parts

Tgs 23 spline 4.7 gears and a AA adapter plate to get it behind my r150f.

I have a fwd shift already, but will be picking up a top shift this weekend so I dont have to convert the fwd shift.

TGs instructions have been great so far. So this is the fwd shift, didnt get the top shift this weekend. But I figure Ill tear into this one and convert it on the way back together.

i converted one a few years ago. ive got a pretty good write-up on pirate.

where are you sourcing the shifter?

I think Im gonna spring for the tg twin stick top shift conversion..

Or I have an extra case at my disposal that is a top shift, and I can rob parts off that if I need to. But I have to buy the spare case if I want it ($100) or just put that money into twin sticks.

Got it stripped down almost the rest of the way and everything bagged and labeled. My cheap o snap ring pliers broke, so I need to get some better ones before I can take the bearing/gear off the main shaft.
