Hyperblinker conundrum

I recently installed led turn signal bulbs in the rear of my 2016. I purchased the load resistors to go with them, but there was no hyperblink. Ever. Cool! A month later, I installed the same bulbs in the front, and this time the dreaded hyperblinker manifested itself. I installed the load resistors up front, and that seemed to do the trick. Except randomly it'll hyperblink again. I haven't installed the rear load resistors yet, but is it strange that I need to considering I didn't need them before the front bulbs went in? And why are my blinkers cycling between normal blinker and hyperblinker? Is it possible the load resistors don't have a good connection? Thanks!

I had a similar issue with my 3rd gen. Went all LED. Basically I found resistors to be useless and fixed it all with this relay from amazon:

Plug and play. About a 5minute replacement.

I did a similar electronic flasher relay solution for my 3rd Gen. But you can’t do that for the 5th Gen, it doesn’t have a discrete flasher unit. It’s incorporated into an MCU.
For my 5th Gen I used LED turn signal bulbs from LASFIT. They incorporate the load resistors into the device, no need for external resistors.
Your external resistors may have an intermittent connection (did you use viper taps?).

They're just generic t-tap connectors. But ya a while back I looked into the led relays. Seemed like an elegant solution until I found they're inaccessible in the 5th gens. I read somewhere resistors get really hot so housing them in the bulb can be problematic. Sounds like you haven't had any issues though?

Yeah, the resistors do get hot. These particular bulbs are bright as hell and have some aluminum heat sinking to minimize heat build up and a thermal fuse that opens up when the resistors do get too hot. Then the resistors are out of the circuit and you will get hyperflash until they cool down again. When I deliberately tested this feature on a hot day I ran the 4way flashers for about 10 minutes and they started to hyperflash. When I turned off the flashers for about 30 to 60 seconds all was well again. I’ve never had a problem in normal usage on the road or waiting at a light with turn signals on.

That's good to know. I installed the rear resistors, and it looks like all is back normal (way easier than the front). I hope that they don't start hyperblinking tomorrow. But if they start hyperblinking in May or after a long drive I'll know why. Thanks!

[MENTION=200736]ElectroBoy[/MENTION] said it more elegantly than I can. Heat and intermittent signal can cause it. I ran into similar issues before switching to Lasfit. Occasionally get hyper flash when waiting at a light for a while.
