I bought a project for my 13yo and I to fix up

Fairly well maintained '98 limited 3.4 auto with e-locker and tow package. 225k totally stock except for wheels, lots of records. $2500.
Needs a front fender, corner light, and bumper. Body surfaces facing up have nearly all lost their clearcoat. Inside it has typical drivers side seat bottom wreckage. Aside from that, only needs a good cleaning inside and out. It was sold in Sante Fe, NM and has only lived in NM and CO, so no rust.
I never realized that a '98 has the fat flares, but no fat lip bumper...

I figured it would be a great 1st car for the kid, and buying now would also serve as an educational tool for maintenance and driving. At worst, we can always sell it to the rust belt.

That's a great deal for an elocker and unique color. Lucky 13 yr old. Hope he appreciates it when he's ready to drive.

Love the idea. The odds go significantly up that he takes good care of it when he's got his license if he spends some good time wrenching on it leading up to it.

This is my goal with my Daughter. I've got a 99 Cruiser and 4 Runner, I'm hoping she wants to drive either one of them when she hits 16. She'll need something to pull her motorcycles to the track!

Update on this daddy-daughter "build". A few weeks ago I was able to find a petina green SR5 fender at the local pull & pay. Now we just need a non-fat-lip bumper.
I assume that if I was eventually able to find the Limited flare in green, it would fit in place of the skinny flare...until then:

Nice save. That fender isn't right but better than nothing. Limiteds have more holes. You need a full fender and flare off a green Limited. Would be more cost effective than buying the whole flare and drilling the right holes and buying clips.

Update on the kid's 4runner. Got a new cheap 3rd party bumper and started cleaning the county dirt roads off the wheels.
Still have a ways to go on the long list of things to address, but we still have another year before she can even drive (legallY)

Nice...I brought our 96 4 runner limited for my son when he turned 16. When he left for college we got it back and his
younger brothers all wanted something else. So now we have it as our dog/exploration vehicle. Maybe if you are lucky it might come back to you..
