Not only do you have great trails, bug free camping and amazing scenery, you have mud that washes off.

Spent some time under my truck today scrubbing this Tennessee crap off, and it's like trying to clean peanut butter mixed with super glue. I remember when i lived in Denver and i could just knock the dirt off with a garden hose....

Bug free camping? Where did ya find that? I'm a native and have lived here the majority of my life and have yet to find camping that is 100% bug free. Seems like the 'squiters have become the 2nd state bird (much like Alaska).

Plenty around here, from December to March. Bring your snow shovel and space heater.
 
We have been camping about 6 times this year and the bugs were not too bad actually. I dont know about bug free though.

Since early May, I've been out 11 times at various locations all over CO and northern AZ (North Rim, Grand Canyon NP) and the bugs have been quite a bit more voluminous than usual. Perhaps due to higher amount of moisture this past winter?!
 
No problems in Denver area or out in the mountains west of Denver for me this year. I'm not sure anything here could hold a candle to camping in Northern California the week before last or Glacier National Park in Montana at the end of the trip. Bug central.

Worst I'm dealing with are these scarab/hissing beetles in Denver right now at my apartment. Never dealt with em in my life. Keep getting stuck between my storm/burglar door and my front door, then their buddies join them and become stuck, then they all end up on their backs hissing. Every single night.

Yeah, my wife's family lives there - too much drama to move back. Plus there's lots I like about TN.

That said, we visit out there and once our second kid gets too old to fly for free it's gonna be road trips to Denver. When that happens, I want to connect with some of you guys for some wheelin'.

Went camping a few times up in the mountains in spring and never had any issues with mosquitoes. It was glorious. Go outside here at dusk or later and you're assaulted the moment you leave the house.
 
Aww, CO misses you too I'm sure!

Bugs have been pretty bad this year and even last year, but just not in the city really. I've been out climbing/backpacking/and just car camping in the last few months, and everything below 10,500ft is mosquito city! Big snow years will do that though.

Now, Tennessee does have some amazing stuff too though! Their BBQ is divine, and the fall colors put Colorado's little aspens to shame! =)
 
There were a ton of lightning bugs in Nc when I was there in June visiting my folks, first time my son had seen them!
