You've put a lot of careful work and maint into your rigs, hard to let that conscientiousness go. Sweet Taco - with the same engine and all, it's just a different chassis! You probably got it for a decent price, considering how hard it is to pick up one of those in good shape.
As always, neat updates and photos! Your daughter is growing fast! Sweet to see your family (dogs and humans alike) out enjoying each other and the adventure. Keep it up! Was just thinking the other day that I had not seen an update from you in a while!
Tell me about it. Unfortunately, my driveway is full and I have to let one go. Also, I paid cash for the Tacoma, and although I got it for a fair price, I need to replenish my reserves.

Nice score on the Tacoma! Someone is gonna get a heck of a deal on the 97! Will all the meticulous attention and maintenance you have given it. I'm sure you will find the new Tacoma more useful than you think. There is just something about having a pickup...
I think you're right, Isaac. My first vehicle was a 2wd '87 Toyota pickup, and I've missed having a truck since. I'm sure I'll find ways to use it, and believe it or not, Toyota went to great lengths to make the Tacomas kid friendly. It has LATCH points on the front passenger seat, and an airbag override, and there are connections to mount a car seat behind the front passenger seat as well. I'm thinking I might be able to squeeze the family in for some camping trips here and there.

Always a sad day when a 4Runner departs the loving hands that cared for it, however, things change! I know you had the 97 even before your 02. The 97 was primarily your wifes' ride, correct? Is she happy with the Taco or will you be looking for something else?
Anyways, I've been looking at your resent posts and love the wheeling pics! Your little girl is growing fast! It's great to see you're all happy and healthy and you have a new project in the works!!
It seems like yesterday when my middle boy was that age and now I'm helping him with his "new to him" 2003 Mitsubishi Eclipse--- over the last few weeks we dropped his entire rear suspension with drum brakes and replaced it with everything new, including poly bushings(good excuse to acquire a press!!) and disc brakes. Maybe I'll do the front bushings in my 4Runner along with the suspension this year.... When I find out if my younger son is going to College$$$$ in the Fall... who knows??
With my middle son, I've been wrenching his Eclipse since I finally did the Tundra brake upgrade on my 4R last Fall, however, I've enjoyed it with him so much, I'm starting to think I'd enjoy a project like his. I suggested to my Wife I'd like to build a Celica--- she responded that we have too many vehicles and that either I sell the truck and get a Celica or build my 4Runner!!! Well, I guess the 4Runner may be receiving more attention!!!
The '97 has never been my Wife's vehicle, and neither will the Tacoma. That would be lunacy! My Wife is actually not a terrible driver, but she has had two small accidents in the last year. She is forbidden from driving the '01 unsupervised, and the same will go with the Tacoma. I let her drive the '97 because I don't have as much time in it.
She has her own 4Runner, a 2000 SR5 with some basic mods.
Based on your comments about too many vehicles, I think you can understand why the '97 will be moving on. I hope that my Daughter will like spending time in the garage with me, and I'd be ecstatic if she got into wrenching. Any time that I can spend with her will be good time, I'm sure. They definitely grow fast, and I'm getting stoked that she's getting big enough to start hiking and fishing with me.
I'm happy for you that you're getting some quality time in with your kids before they head off to college and get sucked into the land of women and booze.
