it needs to be larger than my 1999 4runner, so i am looking at the sequoia and the landcruiser, maybe even an LX series of vehicle.

what's years and what model is in my price range and which one is the best for DD'ing and light trail runs here in the PNW.

i don't know enough about the other lines of toyotas to really even know here to start looking.

this will be my wifes kid hauler for a few years before we do anything to it, lift,ect, so needs to be GTG in more or less stock form and would like it to be a newer vehicle with lower miles...

best vehicle for the best value here?

My Uncle has an older Sequoia (not sure the year), has 250k+ miles on it, never has had a problem.

I know the Landcruiser's hold their value very well and they are hard to find. Even here in Silicon Valley, I don't see a lot of them for sale. I do believe they stopped importing the Landcruiser's when the Sequoia's came out?
But it does look like they maybe coming back to the U.S.

They Never stopped importing the Land Cruiesr they just didn't sell that many of them. $20-30 will get you a mid 2000's with around 100k miles. A lot of people have a hard time spending that kind of money on a vehicle with that kind of mileage. I would not hesitate for a second. The 100's series got a little softer than the 80's series but they are still bulletproof. Sequoias are nice just intended for a different use than the 4Runner/land cruiser. It's more of a towing/family rig.Also might want the look for an lax 470, it's just a fancy land cruiser

You'll probably find more LX470's for cheaper than LC100's; the Lexus GX & LX seem to sell a bit cheaper than their Toyota counterparts for some odd reason?

How much bigger than your '99 are you looking for? 4th & 5th gens are fairly larger than the 3rd gen.

You can easily afford a LX470/LC 100, even one with under 100k miles.

The problem is actually locating one since theyre rare. Here in FL there are loads of white/gold (worst color imo) LX with under 100k driven by old people seldomly at low speeds and never seen dirt. Probably 3x more LX for sale than LC.

But I do not trust the adjustable height control system and all LX will come standard with it and also they all have the NAV unit from 2002 on, whereas the LC these are optional.

I would get a 2003-2005 LC, so you get no VVT, 5 speed trans, no AHC and look for one without NAV to put in your own modern headunit.

The LC 100's are absolutely gorgeous, but keep their gas mileage in mind. The city is like 12MPG.

Aren't you considering a 5th Gen? They are bigger - not huge bigger like a Sequoia. You could sure enough get a newer/lower mileage vehicle for your money.

Would your wife want to drive a Sequoia? Suckers are really big for traffic and parking.

Personally, I don't understand the attraction to a 10 YO, >125K LC. Sure, it's a LC and all, but is the VALUE there? .... maybe to build out an expedition rig, but for a FAMILY vehicle? I don't see it.
