I got asked a funny question regarding what I drive

Going on a second date?

that was the second date. she's actually not a bad gal. we're taking my benellis to the range for some clay shooting this weekend.

and holy shit, this thread is still going? can i be douchier than i already am and say that i started something glorious?

You couldn't pay me to drive a hipster BMW. That shit is for the skinny jeans wearing crowd
I agree with this. Worst car I ever owned.

Mmm I'm going to disagree. There definitely may be a few but in my limited experience the industrial designers tend not to be skinny jean wearing hipsters that you see at tech companies in Silicon Valley. The industry leans more toward the mature group, it's a pretty exclusive field with a low turnover rate on designers.

I've found that even in the games and film industry that skinny jeans are pretty hard to find within the design/illustration/concept departments.

Again, I'm sure there are still some floating around though.
I sit on a floor mostly filled with product and marketing designers and I can tell you that it's 90% skinny jean wearing Prius owners.

I worked in VFX for awhile and most of those guys were neckbeards that looked forward to having some down time to play WoW.

Hey, WTF man, I drive a prius too and I took offense to that!
You'd fit in well around here.

I just got back from Chik-fil-A and am eating a chicken sammich while I type this. It may have been prepared by a woman, it may have been prepared by a convicted felon with poor hygeine on a work release program... that's not the point.

The point is that I am going to step out of my heterocage and microaggress the shit out of things.

The 4Runner is a truck. Some of us grew up BEFORE the term "SUV" was coined so that every mother could buy a 6000 pound vehicle to drive on the grass of her kids' soccer practice, and back when "Crossover" meant going to Glory. We had a poo beige 1983 Land Cruiser, and the old man would say "get in the TRUCK, son, or I'll kick your ass."

Dating a woman much younger than you can be both a greatly enriching and infuriating experience. Literally most of my best lines are from movies from before they were born, or movies that have been remade with actors that are younger than some of my hemorrhoids.

Don't brag in a subforum how rich you are, because just about everyone here has close to 40k to drop on a truck, mod the hell out of it, and not give a crap if it gets scratched and dented driving up a mountain. Not mentioning some of us actually bought it with our own money, earned doing manly things like wrestling bears with our bare, callused manly hands to protect oil rig workers. I make necklaces of the teeth I knock out with my giant scarred fists (that were made to hold a sammich) and give them to potential mates to assert my alpha dominance.

Whatever terms I use to refer to the opposite sex are apparently un-PC. I will now go with "being of self-actualized valid feelings" as not to offend wrongskin, otherkin, or two space alien midgets posing as a man in a trench coat.

We all agree the 4Runner truck needs a V8.

While we may argue how many turds will fit into a swimming pool, we all quietly agree that filling a pool with one giant turd would be a symbol of pride for generations to come, and I'd probably name every child I have "Turd Ferguson" if I accomplished that.

Aaaand... finally, I am a car nerd. I don't give a damn what people think about my car/truck/SUV/gender affirmation activity vehicle. I like weird cars, be they a Zombie Apocalypse Unimog that tears down drive-through awnings or a 5 Series Wagon DIESEL, in brown, that you can't get in the US. All mods I make are to make the vehicle more useful to me (like a lift that is super comfy on road and is set up with a rake so that towing and hauling won't make the front end higher than the back). And, to be honest, I'd rather people say "what the **** is that?" than "nice car/truck/Biebermobile":D

If there is a difficult part about being rich, I would imagine it would be the constant state of uncertainty regarding the motives of the people around me and whether they truly care about me or just my money.

That's easy enough. Don't tell random strangers (or your new Date) your net worth.

what did you do in vfx? i'm a modeler/texture artist, previously an animator at a few smaller vfx boutiques. but that was quite a few years ago that i worked contracts.

Friend while 1engineer[/MENTION Assuming a standard Olympic pool the volume is roughly 660,000gallons. G

My only disagreement I have with this and I understand was probably for simplistic reasons and make the calculation easier. But who the hell has access to a olympic swimming pool. A normal residential pool is usually between 20,000-40,000 gallons. Just saying your Olympic pool calculation is just ridiculous?!?!? :smash:

Also I would agree that you can call the 4runner a truck, because in fact it is on a truck frame, NOT a crossover, and sure as hell not a car.

10. Using a 4Runner forum post to highlight how much younger your dating partner is makes you seem like a douche.

9. Using a 4Runner forum post to highlight how much money you have makes you seem like a douche.

8. Using a 4Runner forum post to highlight how sensitive you are makes you seem like a douche.

7. Using a 4Runner forum post to highlight how angry you are that a bunch of folks (mostly guys) make politically incorrect comments makes you seem like a douche.

6. Some people just can't take a joke, and some people can't help taking a joke too far.

5. A picture of a mag gray T4R with a hot chick make both the chick and the 4Runner look even hotter.

4. A pic of a hot chick with a big meaty sammich makes both the chick and the sandwich look even more delicious.

3. To be P.C. you have to call your 4Runner a "vehicle", or SUV.

2. Calling your 4Runner a "truck", or worse yet a "rig", makes you seem, that's right, like a douche.

and the number one thing I learned from this thread

1. We all, for one reason or another, do actually care about how the vehicle we drive makes us, and others, feel about us. Hey, maybe that's why we join a vehicle specific forum to cuss and discuss 'em?

Oh, and one last comment, no matter how old, fat or ugly we may be, guys driving a 4Runner are just plain hot! I'm not even overly gay or anything and even I can see that.

<drops the mic>

:lol:

Friend while 1engineers quote may be off base you are talking non sense. Assuming a standard Olympic pool the volume is roughly 660,000gallons. Given the quantity of turds quoted you are assuming .1375gal/turd. While I don’t have a degree is fecal matter that seems far too large for anything that comes out of my rectum.

To put things in perspective:
~231in^3 per gallon * .1375gal/turd = 31.76in^3/turd, assuming perfect cylindrical form (unlikely as the “squeeze” will generally deform the objects in question but we must make assumptions to continue) that yields the following lengths for a given diameter.

Dia. = 1”, L = 40”
Dia. = 1.5”, L= 18”
Dia. = 2”, L= 10”

I feel 10million turds would be a closer approximation. This is of course assuming full displacement of the water in the pool and does not take into account the packing voids.

P.S. If my numbers are wrong I apologize this was a quick napkin/iphone calculation, also technically you are correct as you only stated that 4.8million would fit but that would only be about half full, assuming normal size.....why waste the pool space

did you seriously just mathematically calculate a turd to pool ratio....

***starts slow clap*** I can't stop laughing right now

Jesus. Poor folk. I make so much effing money that I have an olympic sized swimming pool. I feel bad for you if you actually have to swim in the pleb sized residential pool. Get on our level. :hat:

The air force is too easy to pick on

Because 95% of us are POG turds and the 5% either have to have their hands held or have a general in place to smack dicks so we can do our ****ing job!

Seriously... the AF needs to pull their heads out of their ass sometimes. But sometimes we excel in other areas. We did a course of fire that would normally take the Army 3 days to teach and perform. We did it in a single training day.

I'll try not to. Now, I'll get back to the kitchen. Who wants a sandwich?

Almost made me shoot water out of my nose.

I rarely stray from the 3rd gen section, but sure am glad I came into this thread - I think I just found the love of my life...

There is the whole ISIS thing…

I started out doing TD. I did some Nuke compositing and illustration/concept design too. I didn't like the long hours, so I opted for a different career path so that I could just work a normal eight hour day.

Ahhhh, when games were games and developers didn't have to hold players hands when making a game...:fencing:

p.s. This isn't really Brad, is it?
