She does realize that a 2016 4Runner TE w/KDSS runs about the same cost as a new BMW X3, right? (~$40k depending on options) Just because it doesn't have the spinner doesn't mean it's not a pricey vehicle.

I get grown men staring at it like a piece of meat.... As they walk back to their crossover, unibody, "we got this for the family" car.... Really quite amazing actually.

But in all seriousness, general consensus so far has been positive from the feedback I have gotten. That being said, that doesn't account for the people that look at it thinking "Dafuq is that? A Darth Vader helmet with wheels?"
 
Coming from a 5 series BMW to a 4Runner....

Some chicks don't get it...Mine doesn't, but its my ride. To all the haters, this thread was an awesome read and I hope you are totally PC, never watch south park and lead virtuous lives.

I'll stick with my TRUCK and a sense of humor. mmmmmmKAY
 
I tend to over research my major purchases. so i end up knowing the difference between what i chose vs. what the next person chose, and why.

So if someone asked why i chose a Rnnr over something else, I end up having all of these explanations in my head about the 4Rnnrs abilities, transfer case gearing, truck-ness, vs a crossover's viscus clutches being weak, off-road inabilities, and how they are cars, and how i hate cars (2 trucks/2 cycles thank you very much). but going through all of that can be boring, preachy, and sometimes downright insensitive because it does come across as me saying "yes, you ARE a gurly-man..."

Most of the city folk i know don't seem to get it; the off-rd thing. Hey, i just got turned onto it myself. But i do know the soccer dads i know are envious that i could find a much more manly SUV than what they were influenced to choose. "yes, it has 3rd row also, so i can carry those extra kids too...i didnt need to buy a minivan :cool: "

Yes, my Rnnr is a family hauler too, but the difference is, when i want to get it dirty, my owners manual encourages it, while many crossover manuals suggest avoiding such usage.
 
One must consider the source....

:reddance:What can her Kia do that your 4Runner cant do better? Let me guess her insurance will be cheaper once her learners permit expires.

Keep in mind, this chick is 24 and I'm 32. She may assume that because I have a place in a nice part of downtown la that I should be driving something more luxurious.

I had to explain, much to my disdain, that I'm secure enough with myself that I don't need to flex in a bmw crossover that are basically bloated sedans. That during warm months I go camping, to the dunes, mountain biking and take almost bi-weekly trips to the mountains for snowboarding in winter. Finally, that if I'm too worried about my luxury car to do any of those things then I don't want that car.

I really went on a tirade. Her response was, "Oh... that makes sense."

Anyone else get questioned on their purchase?
