Tires
SacState (and others): I'd suggest looking for something other than Michelin LTX M/S if you live where it snows. I had a set on my '98 and they were awful in snow and worse on ice. They were quiet, handled and stopped well and still were way above the wear bars at 75K miles when I traded the truck, but they just didn't cut it in slippery stuff.
The Michelin Cross-Terrains that came on my '03 are much, much better then the LTXs were in ice and snow. Alas, it looks like I'm not going to get more than 45-50K miles out of them, however.

Dont feel bad, my 04 sport has the Dunlop Grandtrek A/T. They are a pretty smooth tire, not too bad in rain, but they have or I hope its the tire, a roar at around 73 mph. I will tell you a little bit about my tire experinces.
I have had 2 Tundras. My 1st one i replaced the factory Dunlop with Michelin cross terrains. This is when they first came out. I didnt get 25 k miles on them. They were the worst tire I have ever had. Then I replaced them with LTX M/S. I have had 3 sets of these tires on various vehicles. The day I bought my wifes Rx300 AWD, I put LTX'S on it. I got 98k miles on those tires. The only reason I replaced them was because they were starting to dry rot on the treads. I was a little suprised by that. I dont know what tire I am going to be put on my Sport, I have 15k on it now. I have only had it for 4 monthes!!! I want some good traction.

The two best mud-terrain tires are GY MT/R or BFG MT. Now, these are PURE mud-terrain tires that are not particularly good in rain or dry land.
If you want something that is more all-terrain, then you have two choices: BFG AT KO or Bridgestone Dueler AT REVO. BFG is more all-terrain, while Dueler AT REVO is more on-road oriented (and lasts longer).

I've read elsewhere that the BFG AT are not very good wet traction tires.
The REVO'S are outstanding tires. I'm coming up on 5K miles and they are excellent dry, wet, and beach sand. I've been in some pretty deep (8-10 inches) of soft sand and didn't have to lock the diff or go 4 LO.
I'm not sure why anyone would pay the extra cash for the 65 REVOS. They are like $40+ per tire more than the 70 and the 70's fit perfect with no change in spedo, odo or rubbing on my truck.
I just ordered the 265-70-17 REVO spare so I can do a full tire rotation as soon as it comes in. $129 from tirerack.

I've had the BFG AT KOs and they are ok on ice and snow. I had the BFG AT KOs on my Tacoma and I did slip quite a bit on them, they are indeed better tires than the GY Wrangler RT/S.
I am looking for something agressive in the mud and still have good road handling. I heard the Good Year MTR is a better tire on wet highway roads than the BFG Mud Terrains.
I've gone hardcore offroading with guys who drove BFG Muds and GY MTRs and like them offroad, they all say MTRs are better on wet roads but are excellent offroad.
