Maybe it came with out one. Then the dealer installed one from their parts department? Could it be that they had a spoiler from an earlier version of the 4th generation in stock and that is what was installed?
I am just trying to help. Maybe you can check out an earlier 4th generation 4 runner spoiler with yours to determine if it is aftermarket or from toyota's part department.
I personally like the earlier version of the 4th generation than the camel hump on the new ones.

Consider yourself lucky that you got the "humpless" spoiler, LOL. It looks much better than the later "humped" versions, IMO.
It is probably an aftermarket unit installed by your dealer. If the third brake light is a very thin row of LED located toward the bottom of the trailing edge, then it is definitely an aftermarket spoiler.
I guess it is also possible that your dealer ordered an '03 or '04 rear spoiler and installed it. That would be easy enough to check by simply looking at the third brake light. Got any pictures of it?

yes...but unfortunately I do not know how to post pictures.
I purchased it in Florida...meaning it came from Southeast Toyota...in which they install all the accessories at port...(ie...Spoiler, Running Boards) so maybe they still had stock of the older spoilers and wanted to use them up before moving onto the new ones. I think this is the case because it was listed on the original window sticker...and not on an addendum sticker.
And yes...i like mine better...i was just wondering why.

I just got off the phone with the guy that does the accessory installs at my dealership (Marietta Toyota). I'm having a spoiler installed on Thursday and asked about the original versus the aftermarket model. The main difference besides the hump is the price. the aftermarket spoiler costs $395 for the part and install. The spoiler that comes from the factory costs $695 (install not included).
Not sure if this is 100% accurate, but I was told that the Toyota spoiler only comes on cars from the factory that are ordered with it not as an add-on when you purchase the car. That may be specific to Southeast Toyota dealers, I don't know...

I have a humpless spoiler on my 03. It was a Gulf States Toyota Distributor's spoiler as an option. I agree, it looks way better!
