I have a 4wd '99, can someone tell me which Denso O2 sensor I need?

ummm that code is a lean code. are you sure its an o2? there are other things that could contribute to the CEL but it could also be a 02 sensor. sorry not much help on the sensor part.

Some '99 models were Cali and some were Federal. Mine is Cali.

You need to know if you have a California Emissions version, or the federal version. CA will have two converters, and will have something under the hood stating that it's a CA emissions vehicle.

After that, just go to Rock Auto and pick out the Denso part. It will vary depending on the transmission and whether its' 4WD or not.

I just replaced mine, both front and rear. DENSO Part # 2349002 is the upstream A/F sensor for my 1999 4Runner Limited 4x4. BTW, I'm in California so its a CA part number. Also, I got mine from Rock Auto for $108.79, considerably less that from a dealer

Right now I'm guessing it's either the O2 or the MAF so I'm going with the cheaper option first. Plus I'm at 178500 with no clue the last time they were replaced so it's about that time anyway.

Thanks man. I had checked out the one listed there but it said downstream so I wasn't sure if it was for both. Guess it would have helped to research a little more.

I had to learn about this stuff few weeks ago for emission here in CA cause my 99 t4r wasn't a CA version.

Look at your cat, if you have two like this pic, you have a/f sensor upstream and a o2 downstream. If you only have one cat, you have the both o2 sensor for both up and downstream (like I did), this is the most certain way to know what you have.

a/f is more expensive BTW.

Let me know if you have a Cali and need the front O2 (a/f) denso sensor, I accidentally ordered this one instead of the federal.
