Storage compartments!


I had a taco and on the sides of the bed it had storage boxes. My 06 runner has 2 storage bins in the very rear. The bins are SO SMALL! They are like 6 by 4 and 1 inch deep! In my taco I could carry all sorts of stuff.. (tie-downs, jumper cables, flash lights, pull straps, ect) And my runner, not the case. I've rigged me a little tool box, but it would have been nice for them to been standard.

What do you put in the compartment on the passenger side wall back there? I've got a receiver, two hitch balls, tie downs, locks. I also have the shelf option that is always up. I've got my recovery bag, hand winch, air compressor, dog bowl, water and coats. I've never had any problems with finding enough storage. I have a problem finding enough things to fill it up.

Do you have the JBL synthesis stereo? That junk takes up the whole useful compartment you're speaking of.

No I don't and I'm glad. I find the compartment much more useful. If I want to hear something that sounds good I just hit my uncut go pedal.

Hahaha yes by all means. I pulled the JBL sub out of there a long time ago and put in a JL 15w3

I do have the jbl. It's a limited, so it had a storage shelf also. The bins are super shallow and small. I've strapped down a box, but just throwing stuff in the back to knock around, isn't my style.

I have the JBL synthesis system in my limited, but I actually do like those 2 small storage compartments that they did happen to put in there. (at least compared to my 3rd gen). I keep locks, keys, small rope, misc tools, chargers, lights, etc. in those little guys. For the rest of the gear I just bought a decent sized rubbermaid tub that is more rugged than the POS clear plastic ones and it holds a ton, keeps it all organized, and is quite durable. It was only $13 at the store, not a bad deal.
Those homemade drawer systems by JA and Matt (gaterose) are pretty nice if you have basic building skills and the time to make one. I will probably do that one day.

P.s.- I like the jbl sub. It's good for death metal. If it was shi**y like my wifes fj one, then i would remove it.
