I made my own hitch mount spare tire carrier.

Hi all. Sorry about not posting a lot. Busy busy over here and saker is doing a great job being my PR manager.

As far as the tab is concerned, the reality is that you can probably get away with just two mounts but the third mount will be extra redundancy.

I’m on mobile but I’ll do my best to describe how the bolts work:

Bolt 1: grade 8 socket head cap screw. Threads into a “nut on a stick” on the inside of the hitch inserted from the rear. You don’t bottom out the head of the cap screw. The threads that stick out from the opposite side of the nut get a very tall nut/washer/lockwasher that pulls the carrier sideways - tight against the receiver. Here are some pictures, sorry I don’t have pictures from the “nut side”

Bolt 2: is coupled with a stainless “yoke” that pulls the carrier hitch down - right against the bottom of receiver. I upgraded the yoke plate to 3/8” from 1/4” because I bent one of them (of course I was hammering on it with a snapon impact)

These two hold it super rigidly so the third bolt is really just extra security. Pretty self explanatory with this one, weld it on once the other two are installed and tight:

Relocating Camera Harness Connections

Hope this helps someone!

I am posting this for those that want to make their own camera relocation harness and reduce the amount of connections (IE: Butt connectors and/or wire splicing/soldering and heat shrink.)

Pull your wire first, then make up the terminals!

Yes, you can buy a Toyota harness (Wire, Back Door) 82189-35020, cut it in half or cut your OEM one and make an extended harness.

You can make up your own harnesses:

Here is a list of items for wiring of the license plate lights (2) wire connector and camera relocation (4) wire connector.
The connectors come in sets of 5, but seeing they weren't that much I decided to purchase them and have extras.
I also bought the electrical wire that matched the same color as the OEM camera harness.
