Anyone know who might have the best price for an a/c compressor for my 08 v6?? I've checked a couple sites like partsgeek.com. Just want to make sure I explore all options before I part with my hard earned money!
I need an a/c compressor!!

What happened to the factory one? I would think as new as your '08 is there shouldn't have been problems with it?

That could be. When I was looking for 4Runners last year, there were a few in which the Freon needed to be recharged or it has been recharged.

The compressor has developed a noise when the a/c is on. It sounds like something is rattling around in the compressor itself. Other than that the a/c still blows cold.

Well if no one knows where to go for the part.. Has anyone experienced a noisy a/c compressor??

I haven't heard a 4th Gen A/C compressor giving up the ghost like that. But you should be able to get one reasonably priced. Usually they will help you out with a core charge.

Looks like TOD is a little cheaper but they're pretty close. You could also try picking one of from a junkyard if you wanted to put some effort into finding one that has a totaled 4th gen.

Before you go and buy a compressor, make sure thats what it is. I have the same rattling noise that starts when the compressor runs and gets louder when the truck is in gear. I still havent figured out exactly where the trouble is other then when I push down hard on the alternator the rattle goes away. There has to be something in common between the compressor and the alternator...
Other then the odd rattle the truck runs fine.
