Interesting... When I had this issue it was the starter contacts. But swapping starters the chance of that affecting both is slim. Could be the ignition harness. I had a single wire pull out below the airbox that gave a similar issue. Or a low battery?

Hey- Make sure the battery terminals are clean and tight. You're not getting enough juice to the starter. Another thing to check is if there is a "Starter Relay" I had to replace this on a Dodge van. Some starters have the starter relay built in. I don't know about Toyota. Low battery, bad connections, starter relay. You already replaced the starter. Hope this helps...

I noticed that on my negative terminal its cracked so its not allowing a good solid connection ill change it out and ill try swapping the starter relay with my moms truck and see what happens

90% of clicking is a bad ground, sorry u changed the started, i would have told you to look at the neg terminal 1st.

When you hear only a click first thing is too check battery voltage when car is off and on. Should be around 12v off, and 14v when running. If not have battery tested and replaced if needed. If its not battery then it has too be the spare starter, like stated check contacts, smack starter with hammer which will sometimes kick it over. It hitting with hammer makes it work than get new starter. If battery is still not getting good charge it could be bad alternator.

That's interesting...my runner has been doing the same thing, however I've noticed that if I wait for my antenna to extend all the way then start it starts just fine. Sorry I dont mean to hijack your thread but I am going to start looking at terminals now before I do the starter.

update...the negative terminal has a crack along so I went ahead and replaced it...changed out the starter relay for one that I know works, and checked for shorts along the wires and still nothing. I checked the voltage on the battery out of the car and it read 16v don't know if that's good or bad. still take any advice
16volts is not correct.
Have the battery tested at a shop/parts store.
The previously stated proceedure is the way to go. Replaceing starter is the last thing you'd probly do in a no-crank situation.
1) Check battery condition/voltage/state.
2) Check connections/wires/terminals/clean.
3) Check starter with a hammer while some one tries to crank it over.
4) Possibly check starter relay.
5) Replace starter/have checked at a shop maybe.

As noted, 16v is not right.
There is more to testing a battery than just checking voltage. You can have good voltage and have 1 or more cells in the battery dead. This translates into not enough amps to turn the starter. A true battery test will include a load test to see if the battery still puts out 12v under load.
