I think 5th gen owners are soft bunch

When I got my 3rd gen, first advice I got was to lose the running boards.:rant:

well keep in mind you probably got yours used and when it was already several years old, these bunch have just coughed up 30 or 40 grand for theirs and they've only been out for a month and some change. of course they are going to be softer on them for now

meh it's the same way with any new generation of vehicle, it takes a few years for people to be willing to start wheeling them and making them look mean,
i thought the same thing about 3rd gen owners when they first came out, well of course i was driving a jeep then but hey you get the idea, the only cars of the newer generation that get the proper "pimping" are cars like yj's and tj's and things of that sort, well that and f-250's owned by fools, imo, give it a few years when their not 40K to own and you'll start seeing more hardcore people coming through.

side note, never ever in my whole life have i or will i ever buy a brand new car off the lot, well unless it's a veyron or something of that caliber, and if i could afford that i don't think money would be a issue anymore. so to me anyways paying 40K on a truck then start lifting it and locking it for wheeling , is just stupid, your either stupid with your money or stupid for caring what others think about you, as in look at me 2010 runner lifted locked and slammed in to rocks, the only 40K+ car i would take from teh lot to the trail would be say like a rubicon or a unimog, like this

(i would own 5 of these before a veyron, but if i was ever to get a dream street car it would be the veyron or a billy gibbons car (he has alot of cool ones lol) i like the Copperhead Ford coupe, and the '48 Cadillac Sedanette mostly.))

I understand if they would be hurt if then were taking the running boards off a brand new car. this is not the case, they are talking about paying big money putting them on. since those running boards don't come with the vehicle, you can't finance them, have to pay out of pocket.

3 4Runner's, none of them bought new, all were over 100k when I got them. there's hell no way I would buy new, either.

I agree. Running boards, Mudflaps, Frapamochalocabocachoka latte maker..

When the LC200s came out people right away started modifying them for offroad excursions in the ih8mud section, same goes for the FJs, Tacomas and Tundras. Although Tundras were modified just for the Monster truck look more than offroad.

The only vehicle that I have ever seen that went straight from the lot to the trail was an old wheeling buddy's TJ. He literally drove it from the dealer to our wheeling spot and carefully applied it's first dent. Here it is today:
