I think I saw a redesigned tundra yesterday morning

On the news Sunday morning they were showing clips from the Bangkok Thiland World strong man comp and the guys were pulling trucks that were tied together. The trucks were not tacos they were full size and they did not look like our current Tundras. They were toyotas and toyota is sponsering it. I tried to search for picts from the comp but I could not find any. Anybody else see these?

They looked just like that but I think that they were full crew cabs and the front of all of them were all one color.

Toyota is SERIOUS about building a full sized pick-up to take a big bite out of that market. They are building the biggest plant in the world (in Texas) just for the new Tundra. They're talking about big HP V8 hybrids.

Toyota Motor Manufacturing, Texas (TMMTX) and its on-site suppliers together will employ about 4,100 when Tundra production begins late next year. The $850 million plant will have the capacity to build 200,000 vehicles annually.

I totally feel the opposite. I love it and would love to have it. Might not be ideal for contractors, but for my purposes it would be sweet. I think a lot of times they put these on the concepts so that you can easily see a top view of the entire interior and have more light in there for photos......but I still hope it makes it to production.

I'm thinking about replacing my Taco with the new Tundra. If the production model looks this Bad Ass it will be a little easier to let the Taco go.

Just to let you know what we've heard at our dealership, the new Tundra is going to make the current Tundra look like the size of the old Tacoma. The 4.7 liter is going to be the base V8, then supposedly a 5.7 liter with close to 400 hp will be optional, with a hybrid version of some kind coming out later on.

Just to give you an idea of the size, and again, this is just what we've heard from our reps and such, the width of the truck is just 1/2" shy of requiring side marker lights, which are typically found on dually trucks. Before the new truck comes out, we have to replace several of the lifts in our service department because the truck is too big for them. We have to go with the "all-in-ground" type lifts because of the width of the truck.

Trust me, you will NOT be disappointed with this truck. Toyota has waited and watched the mistakes that other makers have made. This truck will be the one that starts to seriously grab the big 3's market share. Wish I knew more, but that's all for now.

Sounds like something I may replace the 4runner with one day if I end up having a greater need for a truck. Do you think the Hybrid will just add some more horses and a little more fuel savings like it did for the RX?

Yup, that's exactly what the product rep at Scion Nights told me last year, when he said Toyota's new sportscar was the X-Runner. He said 75% of current Toyota dealerships' service bays will not be able to fit the new Tundra. There will be a new Toyota truck service center where I live to go with the launch for the new Tundra. The closest dealer is also remodeling and moving to a new locaton for a larger facility. I think the next Tundra will be HUGE, both figuratively and literally.

As far as size, the concept Tundra is 19-feet in length, nearly seven feet in width, and 6.5 feet in height. Underneath the rear skid-plate is a multi-functional unit that houses an electric generator, an air compressor and other outlets. Inside the bed is a solid metal collapsible hidden job box that can be erected for safe storage of tools and supplies. In the rear tailgate is a hideaway ramp that extends to the ground when the gate is open, allowing heavy items to be rolled into the bed, instead of being lifted.

( i work at T.M.M.I) and yes the new tundra will be alot bigger than the old tundra.. its gonna be nice... they havent really started showing everyone at the plant what it looks like yet...

I remember reading something about the biggest plant, it might have been in the US.

man i been lookin at that truck for a while, ever since the first concept came out, and i think it looks kick ass. I wish i could own that, although i love the 4runner. if i was a billionare i would have so many cars, i would put Leno to shame.
