Definitely still used! It's normally the cheaper and less technical way to go about a SAS. Depending on the set up leaf springs have pretty good travel. They are not very good for hauling ass though.

I guess it wouldn't be appropriate to call it a hack. Hack seems to be a negative term. Chop, yes. I really like Mossy's 4Runner. He has done some superb work to it. He also has a metric ass ton money into it. Definitely NOT a budget build.

Haha, yeah. That truck looks like it has a lot of $$$ involved. The SAS'd front is peeking at me, which is what is already giving me that impression. I would love to own the keys to that thing though! Definitely a different build.

The FIRST thing I would do with that truck would be to schedule a multi-point inspection with my Toyota Dealership, just to laugh at the inspection brochure and all of the side comments from the technicians. :D

Looks like it started as a good idea but when little money is involved that's what you get and you see it in every facet of the car/truck world.

Not really. Talked to the son of the owner who told me that his dad bought it like that, and he thought the PO used it as a mud bogger. You're in luck fellas, it's for sale! Behave yourselves and don't knock each other over trying to be the first one to get here. Life in Bama, always an adventure...
 
I see that it is the luxurious Limited model.

It has go haul ass with all that extra weight cut off.
