i wanna go off road

i have owned my 4runner for a while and i really want to do some off road driving. i really have no idea where to go around where i live without joining a club, and dropping a good amount of money into my truck just to keep up. can anyone help out?

I'll take a crack at this...

Going down the club road (or "unclub" for local enthusiasts that may/may not run their own web site like this one) is not something to rule out...yet.
Making the assumption that you need to have $30,000 in bolt on parts to be elligible for club membership is often NOT a 4x4 club's mandate. Far from it. Everyone starts somewhere...with a stock rig, more often than not.

My advice right off the bat:
- don't go alone
- have safety and recovery gear (tow points, and rope)
- always let others know where you're going
- LT class of tire (Light Truck)
- take camera (this is a selfish thing, T4R.org needs more pic content!)
- food, spare clothing
- first aide kit

There...the basic kit...most clubs, and experienced enthusiasts will recommend and expect that you have the above on hand.

X2 I cant stress enough, NEVER wheel alone, EVER... if you lived here in Denver, theres ALWAYS someone/group wheeling, heck we hit a trail every weekend, lol
