I want another/second 4Runner...am I nuts???

I don't think you're nuts, but if it were me I'd get something different for variety if nothing else. A pickup truck would give you more flexibility if you own a home and/or haul anything. A smaller SUV like the RAV would give you something quicker, with more agility, and with better gas mileage. You could also opt for a Prius and cash in on 60 MPG to offset the somewhat thirsty 4runner.

I love my 4runner, but I don't think that many families need 2 midsize to large SUV's. Just my .02c.

or get the gx470... the trendy sister that doesn't like to hike but wants to go to the mall instead.

or get a FJ crusier... the less made up sister that likes to moutain climb and drinks beer.

or get a Highlander and be a soccer mom.

gx470 - I'm not to fond of the barn door and higher roof line anyways. I love the 4runner's upward hatch (good for rainy days) and bad@ss lower profile. The gx is something I cannot afford anyway.

FJC - I do some light to moderate off road now and then but nothing any more rigorous to warrant having the fj. If I had some spare cha-ching...maybe.

Highlander - two words - hellllllll no.

If getting the first 4 runner proved to be a good idea then your 2nd is a given so long as your needs have not changed. If same needs, then the real question is do you want to risk dissapointment trying another vehicle when the T4R is a proven article? Plus when you sell one down the road you will have another to swap your upgrades to.

That's just it, our needs haven't changed a bit and we could use the room and same capability in both vehicles. The 4R has proven its weight in gold for me. I also like the resale value, if (although unlikely) I need to sell the SR5 I can always snag the skid and Valor tip and slap it on the other one to add 20 HP.

A truck would indeed give more flexibility, but I just love the 4R's 4wd system. Still thinking of the Taco, though they don't come in Galactic (yeah, stupid reason, I know). I thought about the RAV but something about it just doesn't sit well with me. Yeah, it's light, quick and has considerable room now, but something about the word "unibody". The Prius is great but it is simply to small as far as space goes. I sometime have to truck around huge boxes of servers, supplies, the occasional costco run etc. almost everyday. Fuel consumption is a realistic concern, but I've already considered and accepted that factor in our lifestyle when I decided on the first 4runner. Something I am comfortable with again if I choose a second one. Just have to save more money for gas, less on beer.

Still thinking of the Taco, though they don't come in Galactic (yeah, stupid reason, I know).

I just ordered a 4Runner in Shadow Mica. While I originally liked the Galactic, it looks to purple/bluish in some lights for my taste. My second choice would have been Titanium.

A buddy of mine has a '06 Tacoma in Black Sand Pearl. Its a beautiful color- it has the metallic sparkle like the Galactic/Titanium/Shadow 4Runner colors, only darker. IMO, its much better looking up close than the non-metallic black offered on the 4Runner.

I suppose if you need the same functionality on 2 vehicles, then 2 4Runners may make sense. Personally, Id get something different. A truck capable of hauling or a sporty sedan that is more fun to drive (and gets better mileage) would compliment the 4Runner nicely.

If you don't want another truck, my suggestion is to look into the Lexus RX350. That is the perfect blend between AWD and luxury sedan if that is what you are looking for. In addition, it is an affordable car. Comapred to the 4Runner, it is more luxurious and smooth but not nearly as rugged! If you want a real SUV, by all means go for another 4Runner! You can be assured that all of us on the board won't make fun of you. :biggrin2:

My vote would be for the 4D Taco, if you need to haul cargo around. You'd still get the benefits of four doors for the family, plus cargo area for hauling around tall/oversize or just plain dirty stuff.

It wasn't fun hauling fertilizer around in the 4R - you just haven't really driven until you've driven in rush hour traffic with a boatload of fertilizer in the cargo area. I almost considered driving with my head out the window a'la Ace Ventura (Pet Detective).

We've got 2 4Runners. An 03 V8 for my dad, and my 05 V6. Both black... both limited, but still very different personalities! I love the 4Runner... it might be unhealthy but i dont think any of you would accuse me. its just! DO IT!!! LISTEN TO YOUR HEART!!!

If you are nuts???!!!! I am right there with ya. As soon as I can pay our 05 Camry down to a point I won't lose my ass, it is going bye bye and I will have a New SE V-8 4x4 in driveway next to the 04 V-6 SR5 2x4. I plan to roll the 04 until the wheels fall off. 63500 miles currently. The V-6 has good power. I can't wait to drive the V-8 Full time 4WD.

My wife and I swap vehicles everyday because we both love to drive the 4Runner. If I scam it so I drive the 4Runner all week I hear about it on Friday. She likes the better view and the extra power it has over the Camry LE 2.4L I-4. Me too!! Not to long ago she came home after driving it (Camry) and asked me if there was anything I could add to it to make it Quicker??? I said of course there was. Add another $100 a month on the payment so we could get rid of it. That will make something about it quicker.

Then we will be fighting over V-6 or V-8.

Don't forget the NEW SUPRA!!! i saw it in Car and Driver, or another magazine. Two versions, coupe and Cab. Coupe comes with 450 HP V8 or a 350 HP v6. Cab only with V6 (because of the reduced strength due to the drop top). i think its Due out in 09. but after that article i havent heard much about it... sad. But still... I cant wait for it... i remember the original... best sports car ever made... AND NOW ITS COMING BACK!!! I certainly think that qualifies for a spot in the Dream Garage.

Well, after much thought I have decided to look for a 2007 4Runner SE. I got a few quotes from some of the internet sales people already and I will dive full on into the shopping this weekend. Hopefully, you all can also let me know if the asking prices are good or not. I guess I should now collect all my pricing reports and prepare what is considered to the stealer as kryptonite - the folder.

Try SF Toyota through Cory Ellerbee, Internet Manager, if you haven't already. I bought mine through him. My experience here.
