quick reminder, my black friday sale is coming up this friday. if you want a body lift dont miss out. 15% off :bluejump:

More lift? Ground/tire clearance issues or just want to puff it up a little bit and make it look bigger? :girl:

I'm pulling 3.5" up front with no CV angle issues (but right at the threshold).

The back sits down pretty level with a couple hundred lbs of gear in it with the Toytec Superflex coils and 1.5" spacers.

BL guys: Earmuffs... I'd stay away from any sort of body lift. No sense in raising the center of gravity for any reason if it can be avoided.

Bigger tires will help "puff it up" and get you some more ground clearance. Then you have to worry about if they will clear without modding body or limiting travel.... it never ends.

How do you figure a body lift raises COG more than a suspension lift does?

Body lift keeps frame low so center gravity don't raise as much as say a suspension lift. IMO if you got rid of you coil spacers. Lowered front and added body lift you would have a lot better ride. Coils don't like spacers and front shocks never ride good over 3" of lift. Unless you like it feeling like a rock.

Sorry to old for ear muffs. Lol

I believe his point is you're raising the the center of gravity with no off-road benefit, and only slight tire clearance benefit. Keeping it as low as you can while still retaining 100% of the travel you're looking for would be the best function-over-form solution.

He said he wanted more "Lift" not off-road performance. If he wants it to do better be needs to listen to JayRolla and ditch ththe spacers and relax th coilovers to a reasonable height.

Yeah, I'm totally with him on that. I'm just saying I understand where he's coming from with the center of gravity thing, and for what he's saying, he's right. Personally, I'm not worried about it either, so I'm probably about to add 1-2 inches of body lift from shootmymime to my current 3 inches of suspension lift because much like the OP, I've been bitten by the lift bug and it didn't take long for me to want more.

What bug? Mine is taller than your's? We've all been there but at least mine won't flop over when it counts!:caked:

Edit: I'm actually concerned for your safety, that's all. I've seen rigs flop on dirt roads because they were too tall. The frame on these things don't weigh shit, the body is the heavy part. Unless you plan to inch around and look dumb with tons of body lift, WE will have more respect for a stock 4Runner that actually hits some trails.

How much higher are you thinking exactly? If slightly bigger tires are what you want then a BL is a cheap alternative but if cash isn't an issue I'd recommend a SAS or a drop bracket lift. 1st gen tacomas have the same front suspension as 3rd gen 4 runners so any front suspension component will work such as a tuff country, fabtech or trail master lift. If you do go with the BL route you will run in to more problems on installation... I did.

I think it's funny this was OP's first post, and probably hasn't even back to see responses.

I have 3-4" suspension lift and 1" BL. I went with 1" BL so I didn't get too separated look, but still gained some clearance for off road.

In my opinion wheel/tire placement plays a big factor in the stability. Suspension lifts bring the wheels inward, and both types of lifts raise center of mass.

Trucks with skinny tires that are inset, and the truck is super tall, look tippy to me.

With my ProComps and 33" Duratracs and Spidertrax, mine stick out quite a bit, even with my big fender flares. But I feel a lot more stable when cruising around corners.

Only problem is I sling mud and snow all over the side all day.

I looked through your build thread and I see your running 9 wraps. Do you have issues with the rear tires getting hung up on the fender when fully stuffing? I was running 285's and now Im running 305's. The 285's where barely clearing with stock back spacing and no rear spacers. I was thinking of adding some rear spacers but dont want to modify the fender.

Not sure if you mean "hung up" meaning it gets stuck in the fender and can't get out, or just gets stuffed in there and wants tot tear your fenders off and burn a hole in the fender wall?

Yes, but I thought that aftermarket bump stops was the remedy for this? I am planning at some point address that issue, because ya they stuff way too much.

This was with my rear mud flaps taken off. If I go out to do anything gnarly, I take the rear mud flaps off, and disconnected sway bars, air down tires, etc.

Im talking where the outside of tire will rub the fender in the center where the flare is mounted. Not that its stuffing to much on the inside upper. I have lowered bump stops which has stopped from overstuffing. Just seems like running a wheel spacer will move my tire outside the fender and would hit going into the fenders lip. But from your picture it looks like it cleared but I dont know if it rubbed stuffing into the tire. Right now my 305's sit about 1" wider than 285's and scared it will cause issues if if I push the tire out anymore.
