Hombre, girls love these 4runners. I had three of them in the back of mine driving around last weekend. They think its cozy, which I translate to mean, "tuff and rugged" :surfer: In fact they like it so much they give it nicknames (girly nicknames). Friends complement the 4runner all the time, both guys and girls, and I bet the other members could say the same thing. The 3rd gen 4runner is a stud. Has more masculine lines than the round SUVs of today, and the ladies love it

In my experience, most girls don't care so much about cars. They don't know anything about them; basically it's a way to get from A to B. that's about it.
If someone wants a $300-$600/month car note to drive something new that will be in the shop within 30k miles, fine. I'd rather have a 13 yr old 4 runner that will keep going for another 100k miles and almost looks new.

Being an at least 5th gen (if not more) San Diegan as well, it's actually funny when I see people going to visit "America's Finest City" only to find some nice beaches, Sea World, the zoo, and a ton of sh*t holes that I wouldn't want my wife traveling in at night. Seriously I've watched this place turn from a sleepy surfer town to a yuppie filled s**t hole. Everyone moves here thinking they are movie stars or something and needs to drive BMW's and Mercedes.
I took a road trip out to Kansas in May and I counted literally 3 BMW's the entire trip. I usually see 3 BMW's in 1 block!
Too bad really. I enjoyed growing up there, but don't even like visiting any more.
I miss the desert with a passion though.

No you can't. I have a 540i/6 dropped on coil overs, 19 x 9.5"s all around and some other stuff done to it. Then I have my 4Runner too. I'm sure if you saw me driving one as opposed to the other your opinions of me would vary. I'm certainly not two different people, I just have varied taste in cars.

I hate to break the bad news to the OP, but d-bags are everywhere, seriously no one is safe. In all honesty your best bet is to work on your level of tolerance of these people. Of course, I'm being a hypocrite right now because tolerance is not really my thing.
However, heres a bit of advice, in order to "get chicks" you really only need one of the following things. the more of these you have, the better your chances. If you have all of them your possibilities are endless
- mildly attractive
- sense of humor
- personality
- cute dog or baby

I had the same thing happen to me a few days back. I told my friend I was getting a BMW E34 530i. His response was, "You know, that's really not impressive. I would rather get a brand new 5 series, now THAT's something people will find impressive". I was like "You know what, I don't get cars to show off like you do. You probably don't even know how a car works". He doesn't really either.
He's not really impressed by 3rd gen 4Runner's either even though I've had some girls ask me about mine a couple times. He's still my friend so I let it slide but he is a serious idiot sometimes.

I get that alot! Usually dudes or girls that don't know much about trucks...but they rarely believe that the truck is a 98!
That being said, I say buy what you want! I've never been the kind of guy that cared what people think. For as long as I could remember....my buddies were smoking weed, getting drunk, stealing things, and generally acting totally different just so they could fit in with the crowd. I couldn't care less. I was never the coolest guy in school, wasn't a jock, wasn't a brain either....but I had friends, and was happy being who I was. My 1st car was a 89 Chev Celebrity.....and I LOVED IT! All my buddies would laugh at it, but they either drove cars that daddy paid money to buy them, or had no wheels at all! lol!
There's douche bags everywhere, at the end of day, a vehicle is only a vehicle, it doesn't define you.
You want to meet girls, you need only a few things going for you (as previously stated):
Decent looks (groom yourself....you don't need to look like Brad Pitt)
Funny ( or at least have a good sense of humour)
Don't dress like a slob (no need for high dollar threads either)
Be nice! (girls HATE douche bags)
At the end of the day, the right girl will see these qualities in you, and not care about what you drive, what job you have, or where you live!

For the most part, I agree with you, but, the smoking hot (model/mattress actress) looking girls typically like douche bags with their popped collars, and frosted tip hair. They typically go nicely with their "daddy" issues.
I guess that is probably true of some girls, my wife and I have more in common because we are both graduates and have the same type of professional ambition, but we're not overly consumed with how much we make. In fact, we're more interested in how much we can save and how soon we can retire, even though we're probably not retiring anytime soon. That is, unless we get lucky and win the lottery or something, but I guess we have to play if we want to win...

The keyword in my statement above was SOMETHING ...
Whereas most guys will date an unemployed broke female if she is good looking and fun to be with, girls still expect a dude to be able to provide SOMETHING. eg. pay for the check at least 1/2 the time, have a job, a car ect.
Like I said you don't have to be rich but you need to make enough to be independent --- AT LEAST here in Southern CA.
