Anyone have the compressed/extended lengths of any of these mid travel kits that require an upper control arm?

Thanks in advance!

Did you try the manufacturers web site? I'm sure they have all the spec's you'll need.:boink:

Some of them just wont show the full specs on their items.

If you want info on the spot I would suggest calling each company and asking. Get the part #'s first and that will make things go a little quicker.

Basically... I'm wondering what the extended length is because I have some custom length shocks and am wondering when ucas are suggested by respected suspension manufacturers....

I guess I will have to make some phone calls...

Ball joint flex angle limitations are a new concept to me, so I'm looking to form a hard fast rule for uca use based on shock length. It would be much easier to gauge then measuring angles on the ball joint. Call it "learning from the pros."

Most people here use ucas because they want to stuff a larger tire under the fender, they are having problems with alignments/tire wear, or because one of these kits recommended it.

I'm also looking into the performance advantage gained because of the extra caster you gain. Having the extra caster adds natural camber when you turn, so you don't have to dial in gobs of camber and suffer from additional tire wear.

Anyway, those are my thoughts. Will have to make calls when I have time...

Or u could just not worry about all that and build aomething with 20in of travel...

Yup, Icon declined to share their extended and compressed lengths.

Really? I just called last week and the girl on the phone went out of her way to tell me the extended lengths of the Donahoe standard and extended coilovers. I have nothing but great things to say about Icons customer service.

Not trying to bash their customer service guys, they just couldn't find the numbers, didn't offer to dig into for me, and didn't give me a next step in order to obtain the numbers. Figured it was their kind way of declining to give out technical numbers.

For future readers, we ordered a kit and I took the liberty of doing some meurments and cross-comparisons:
Extended Icon fronts are 20" long and require upper arms on 4wd models. 1st gen Tundra 5100 fronts are ALSO 20" extended, so I advise peeps using the Tundra stuff to use upper control arms for the sake of the upper UBJ and the extreme angles it will see. Obviously Icons valving is VASTLY superior.

The Icon rears are 22.25" long extended, plus about an inch for the rubber upper mount, so I'm guessing about 22.75-23" once the rubber upper mount is compressed.

No compressed numbers yet, so haven't calculated wheel travel yet.

This is great info! Any compressed numbers yet? Or in liu of that, how about shaft length when they are fully extended? (did I really just say that?!?)

Never took a measurement because it was getting late when the rear shocks went on. With the 250 psi nitrogen fill, it is impossible to compress by hand off the vehicle. Would need to remove the spring and cycle the suspension supporting chassis. Tough part is the last 10% of compressed travel is taken up by an internal bump stop, so you wouldn't get a true fully compressed number.

Call SDHQ in phx Arizona.. and talk to Vince.. they are an amazing Icon dealer.. and he'll get you any info you need.. and probay already has it on hand..

Btw... all you have to do is fully exntanded minus shock shaft size... if its a 8in shock its 8in shorter then fully extended.. its not rocket science
