ICON Rear Spring install - do I have to mess up the rear brake lines?

Hi folks, I'm in progress doing ICON Remote Res. Front and VS 2.0 Rear suspension upgrade by myself.(there will be another thread to show the entire process). I've done most of the front, now it's time to deal with the rear. According to repair manual, taking off the rear spring involves disconnecting brake lines and drain brake fluids.



The question I have is do I have to do it that way? I guess the the brake lines are not long enough to extend for you to take the spring out, can I just take the whole rear caliper off? Any potential pitfalls I should be aware of ? Any suggestions from you guys, especially who have done this?

I've disassembled my rear suspension several times and never once have I disconnected any brake lines.

I took the stock springs out, and put in the new Icon springs and did not have to remove brake lines.

Make that three. Leave the lines connected.

There are a few clips that hold the lines to the frame... Unbolt those so you have a little extra slack.


The rear is the easy part you're almost done!

Glad I could be of some help... But really it was just a lot of reading through threads on here and PM'ing some nice folks to steer me in the right direction...

Looking back at that thread the information is all over the place, I wish it was more organized so a person attempting their first lift would have an easier time navigating it.

I just replaced mine rear springs last weekend . The shock had been intalled a while ago. This time I only needed loose the top screws for the shock and disconnect sway bar links to completely droop the wheels.
