Identify Seal Replacement

who done it

Anyone know what this is? It's on the left side of the motor and seems to be leaking.

I believe it's coolant. 20210319_174823.jpg20210319_174826.jpg

I don't think it coolant, if it were coolant it would be like pink crusty looking crystals material, looks more like an oil leak to me, not sure what you're looking at when you say "seal", I'm guessing it the gasket for the square plate(?) in your photo, I'm not sure what that plate is because I have a V8 and yours looks to be the V6 but you never mentioned which engine, it's hard to say if that's where the oil is leaking from, it could be leaking from above there, the best way to find where it actually is leaking from is to clean it with some brake cleaner and then look for where the fresh oil is coming from.

Just an FYI, that looks to be the passenger's side of the engine(?), if so when referencing the engine you need to to refer to the side of the vehicle your talking about, in this case it's the right/passenger's side of the engine, the side of the engine is not referenced from when you're looking at it from standing in front of the vehicle and looking at the engine unless you specifically mention that.

Mine's had a slight leak in that area since I got it. Never taken enough time to find out for sure where it's coming from. I've determined it's not the valve cover. But to complicate things my power steering pump has developed a slight leak now too. Going to replace it shortly. Hoping someone who's dealt with this will chime in.

Sorry about the ambiguity, it's a 06 v6 and the leak is on the passenger side.

I'll clean it and confirm where it's coming from. I can tell you it's not from the valve gaskets.

The square plate that AuSeeker mentioned is to check the chain tensioner. 4 bolts hold it on, it's really easy to take off and replace the gasket there, but I don't think that's the problem since there's oil/grease all over it, not just under it.

Definitely clean it up, but also check your C/V axle on that side to see if the boot is torn. Mine tore and threw grease all over that side of the engine, it looked a lot like how yours looks. If the boot isn't torn it's probably a power steering leak.

timing cover oil leak. very common on the 1gr from the spot circled in the attached picture where the fipg fails to hold. tacos had a tsb for it. many just let it be if it leaks very little oil.
