Identify this part (Cargo area)

Hi guys, new here but been browsing for awhile now. After reading all the threads about removing the 3rd row of seats from the Limited I never came across this answer.

Can anyone tell me what this item does? I'm putting a piece of wood over it and was wondering if I should fireproof it, leave it as is or remove it.

Thanks a lot!

I'm not 100% sure, but it looks like it could be O14; "Indoor Luggage Compartment Electrical Key Antenna Assembly"

This is what the plug will look like if it's this...

No problem covering it up from a safety standpoint.

Looks to be an antenna for the keyless entry and/or smart key. Should be okay if you cover it with wood, but it may reduce/impede performance of the antennae pick-up range.

When I removed my 3rd row seats to make a storage area I also wondered what this part was. I made a metal cover to protect it from getting damaged. I also insulated the area, stored crap on top of it and have a plywood cover over the storage area with the factory carpet pad and a huskyliner. My smart key system seems to work just as well as it did when the seats were installed.
